During an escort mission, he recovered stolen cargo and survived an assassination attempt tied to an Iwagakure Jonin, then chose to keep his younger friends out of danger for now.

• Shuichi defeated Tekki in the preliminaries, and Nara Rokujin, Aburame Shihei, Saki, Yao, and Akimichi Jinsei also won their matches.
• Shuichi and his students trained while Konoha prepared for the exam, and on his eighth birthday Shuichi discovered that his new Flash ability could teleport him into an attack.
• Shuichi defeated Yukari, Tetsuishi, Sunaki, and Mokui in the Third Exam, while Hyuga Akiha defeated Saki and Akimichi Jinsei before forfeiting to Mokui.

• Shuichi and Orochimaru uncovered Sunagakure’s infiltration in the Land of Rivers, defeated Kawamasa’s team, and Shuichi exchanged his intelligence about puppets for advanced techniques.

Takeda Shuichi’s squad uncovered Sunagakure’s movements, fought alongside Namikaze Minato, and later infiltrated Iwagakure and Sunagakure positions. The team ended the stretch deep in the Land of Wind, preparing to continue its reconnaissance.

• Madara spread a false claim that Konoha was responsible for the Third Kazekage’s disappearance, while Sunagakure chose Rasa as its Fourth Kazekage and planned to invade the Land of Rivers.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen promoted Shuichi to Special Jonin and assigned Hyuga Akiha and Aburame Shihei to his reconnaissance squad.
