Background

Sasuke entered the Ninja Academy alongside other major-clan children. Uchiha Fugaku had told him to pay attention to Hyuga Hinata, but Sasuke's unusually intense interest in her was interpreted as a misunderstanding of that instruction. His cool demeanor and Uchiha appearance made him popular among several girls at the Academy. 20

He repeatedly challenged Hinata to duels throughout their Academy years, losing every time. Determined to overcome her, he hid his Great Fireball Technique until he had also learned Phoenix Sage Fire Technique, yet still failed to defeat her modified Rotation. These defeats intensified his desire to find a weakness in the Hyuga clan's absolute defense. 24 25

After graduating, Sasuke trained under Jiraiya beside Naruto. Their competition continued at Mount Myōboku, where Sasuke quickly sensed Nature Energy but initially lacked the control needed to balance it safely. 64
