Near Dengke Tower, a five-star hotel building.

Room 201, fourth floor.

Wenren Sheng surveyed the familiar room. Outside the window lay the Eastwater River, and a trace of fresh moisture drifted in on the breeze.

Last week, others had assessed him in this room. This week, he was the one assessing others.

It truly carried the flavor of fate coming full circle.

As Wenren Sheng sighed to himself, the newly issued phone on the table rang.

His original phone had already been handed over for processing by a designated custodian. Any private communications for him had to be relayed through that custodian.

He picked up the new phone and opened it. A spreadsheet document had been sent to it.

The document contained a great deal of information. First came the assessment guidelines, followed by the candidates assigned to him and their files, and finally, information on his two fellow judge partners.

The assessment would begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and continue until 10 p.m.

Excluding meal breaks, that made twelve hours in total. If there was not enough time that day, they could work overtime until 2 a.m.

Each candidate would be cross-assessed by three judges, who would then reach a final result and submit it to the Patrol Division.

If two judges deemed a candidate unqualified, they would be eliminated, and all that remained would be procedural formalities.

The judge who considered the candidate qualified could raise an objection on the spot, and the candidate would be assigned to another examination area for a second review.

It could be said that each of the three judges directly held the candidates' fates in their hands.

After glancing over the files of his two fellow judges, Wenren Sheng began carefully reviewing the candidates assigned to him.
