After several days, he had finally spotted a merchant ship passing by. Rescue was finally in sight, so he hurriedly jumped up from the deck and began shouting at the top of his lungs.
Someone on the other side noticed his ship and seemed to understand that he needed help, quickly sailing over. However, halfway there, they suddenly fled as if they had seen a ghost. This left Li Shaolin at the bow frantic. He shouted and waved, but no matter how loudly he called, the merchant ship ultimately abandoned him, leaving behind only a shrinking silhouette.
"What the hell? What's going on?" He flopped onto the deck and began thinking. The abominations aboard had all been stored in the cabin to sleep, while Grayson, though steering the ship, had been dressed in a patchwork coat made from several pieces of clothing. From afar, nothing should have looked suspicious.
When he looked up, he immediately found the reason.
The sea wind rustled the flag overhead. A skull above two crossed bones fluttered in the wind—the unmistakable symbol of pirates. Back when that ship of Bloodsail Pirates had been approaching Stormwind City, they had already gathered up their flag. Before they could lower it, abomination Grayson caught up with them head-on and killed them all. During the following days adrift at sea, battered by wind and waves, the rope holding the flag had long since snapped, allowing the pirate flag to fly once more. Naturally, Li Shaolin knew nothing about any of this.
