Yu Xiaogang intervenes when Nuoding Academy's gatekeeper challenges Tang San's enrollment over the fee. After learning that Tang San comes from Holy Spirit Village and possesses Blue Silver Grass with Soul Power, he personally brings him to Dean Flender and secures his admission without payment 7.

At Nuoding, he teaches theory classes on Martial Soul classification, Soul Power recovery, Soul Ring compatibility, and Soul Master ranks. Tang San consistently hides his true strength during these lessons and during Yu Xiaogang's repeated crystal-ball tests; Yu Xiaogang consequently believes Tang San's Blue Silver Grass and Soul Power are unusually weak 9 12 14 15.
