White-Haired Idiot Kiana

Yu Luo, despite his thick skin, became alert when his life was on the line. He quietly shifted his steps, crouched beneath the window by the corridor, and cautiously peeked his head out, looking in the direction of the approaching footsteps.

He saw a beautiful girl in an archery uniform, holding a compound bow, staggering towards the classroom. Even though her skin had turned gray, it was evident she must have been a beautiful girl in her past life, but now, for some unknown reason, she had become a monster.

"Hey, can I draw a card right now? Otherwise, I'm really panicking in this situation!" Yu Luo asked the System internally. The System replied with a tone of indifference:

"Sure, you're a non-chief anyway, so you won't draw anything good. There won't be any golden or rainbow light indicating a good pull."

"Thump, thump..." As the footsteps outside grew closer, Yu Luo's heart pounded faster. He couldn't help it, given that his System was only good for causing trouble.

"I say..." The System's voice suddenly appeared in Yu Luo's mind, startling him so much he almost jumped. He retorted angrily in his mind, "Are you trying to scare me to death so you can find a richer host?!"

The System fell silent again. Yu Luo had a feeling it wasn't acknowledging its mistake but was seriously considering finding a wealthier host.

The footsteps stopped by the window and didn't resume. Yu Luo knew the archer girl outside had arrived and was likely observing. He instinctively shrank further inside, not daring to breathe, his face turning red.

"Why are you holding your breath?" the System asked curiously, like a baby.

Yu Luo replied with disdain, "Didn't you see in those zombie movies they always hold their breath?"

"But I thought these were people infected by Honkai Energy, not zombies."

Yu Luo's face stiffened. He slowly released his hand from his nose and began to breathe gently. After a short while, Yu Luo could clearly hear the footsteps outside resume and gradually fade away.

Yu Luo sighed in relief and slumped to the ground, thinking, "According to the usual movie tropes, she shouldn't turn back."

"Well, maybe," the System replied ambiguously. Before Yu Luo could ponder its words, he heard a whistling sound. Looking up, he saw a flaming arrow shooting directly at him. The archer girl behind it had a playful expression.

"I..." Yu Luo didn't have time to speak. Driven by instinct, he rolled and dodged the flaming arrow. Before he could celebrate, a violent explosion erupted. The classroom window shattered from the strong airflow, and a figure, along with the blast, was sent flying heavily towards the school field outside.

"So you weren't shooting a rocket, but a rocket launcher!"

On the field, a girl with silver twin tails was surrounded by a horde of monsters, fending them off with two USPs in her hands. Suddenly, an explosion sounded. Before the silver-haired girl could even look in the direction of the blast, a heavy object falling from the sky pinned her to the ground.

"Who dares to attack me, Miss!" The silver-haired girl kicked Yu Luo away and stood up cleanly. She raised her USP towards Yu Luo, ready to fire.

"Wait! I'm friendly! Don't shoot!" Yu Luo quickly raised his hands to declare his allegiance. The silver-haired girl remained insistent, her face full of anger. "You're all dark and grimy, and you claim to be friendly? Then I'll take down my allies today too!"

"Huh?!" Yu Luo looked utterly bewildered. In his mind, the System chuckled, "Let me show you what you look like right now." A standard image of an African refugee appeared in Yu Luo's mind. Only the whites of his eyes and his teeth were visible on his face; everything else was pitch black.

"Me!" Yu Luo quickly grabbed the hem of his clothes and vigorously wiped his face. Only then did his original appearance barely show. "I really am friendly!"

The silver-haired girl finally seemed to believe Yu Luo's words. While fighting the zombie horde, she retreated, telling Yu Luo, "Stay behind me. I won't bother with you if you fall behind!"

"Mhm, mhm!" Yu Luo nodded repeatedly, shamelessly sticking close behind the silver-haired girl. The two of them fought and retreated, escaping the zombie horde on the field. They ran down a path lined with cherry blossoms until Yu Luo, gasping for breath, panted, "We... we should... rest... I... I can't anymore..."

Kiana felt a chill run down her spine from Yu Luo's gaze. She became angry and raised her USP towards Yu Luo. "What are you looking at? Look again and I'll put two holes in you!"

"Hmph!" Kiana put her two USPs back at her waist and turned away, ignoring Yu Luo, as if sulking. Suddenly, her phone vibrated. Kiana picked up her phone and looked at it, her expression changing to shock. "The Honkai Index is still rising, and the survival rate is 0.0016%?!"

"What's going on? What is Honkai?" Yu Luo heard the word "Honkai." It seemed the System had mentioned before that these people had become like this due to Honkai Energy infection. Kiana, this white-haired idiot, seemed to know what was happening.
