White-Haired Idiot Kiana

Although Yu Luo was usually thick-skinned, anything involving his own life made him wary. He quietly shifted his feet, crouched beneath the window facing the corridor, carefully poked his head up, and looked toward the source of the footsteps.

A beautiful girl in an archery uniform was staggering toward the classroom with a compound bow in her hand. Though her skin had turned gray, it was obvious she must have been a lovely girl before she became a monster for some unknown reason.

"Hey, can I pull now? Otherwise, I'm seriously freaking out here!" Yu Luo asked the system in his mind. The system replied in an unconcerned tone:

"Sure. But a non-chief like you won't pull anything good anyway. There won't be any golden or rainbow light."

"Damn!" Yu Luo was shocked by what he heard and complained, "Why is it that you don't have any important, useful functions, but you have every single useless function that can draw monster aggro?!"

Yu Luo suppressed the thought of using the system for a flashy transformation and instantly killing this archer girl. He could only hold his breath behind the overturned desks, hoping she had not noticed him.

"Thump, thump..." As the footsteps outside drew closer, Yu Luo's heart beat faster and faster. What else could he do? His system was good for nothing except screwing him over.

"I say..." The system's voice suddenly appeared in Yu Luo's mind, startling him so badly he nearly jumped up. Annoyed, he snapped in his mind, "Are you trying to scare me to death so you can find another rich host?!"

The system fell silent again. Yu Luo had the feeling it had not realized its mistake at all—it was seriously considering finding a richer host.

The footsteps stopped beside the window and did not sound again. Yu Luo knew the archer girl outside had arrived. She was probably observing the room, so he shrank farther back, not daring to breathe. His face turned red from holding it in.

"Why are you holding your breath?" the system asked with the curiosity of a child.

Yu Luo replied disdainfully, "Haven't you seen zombie movies? Everyone holds their breath in those."

On the athletic field, a silver-haired girl with twin ponytails was trapped amid a horde of monsters, maneuvering around them with two USPs in her hands. Suddenly, an explosion rang out. Before she could even look toward it, a heavy object falling from the sky had already crushed her flat on the ground.

"What lowlife dares launch a sneak attack on me?!" The silver-haired girl kicked Yu Luo away, sprang neatly to her feet, and raised her USP at him, ready to fire.
