Tang Ya believed the Iron Blood Sect had annihilated her family, leaving her with a deep desire for revenge. Her Blue Silver Grass carried a concealed Dark Attribute and life-devouring power; fearing both its consequences and the loss of a potential means of vengeance, she kept it secret and restrained her own strength. 65 68

While serving as a Shrek Academy recruiter alongside Bei Bei, Tang Ya met Lin Yu. His interest in weapons usable by ordinary people immediately appealed to her own Tang Sect ideals. She invited him to join the Tang Sect, used its annual Shrek Academy interview quota to admit him, and became emotionally invested in the hardship-filled story he told her. 24 25

Tang Ya personally welcomed Lin Yu into Shrek Academy and showed him conspicuous favoritism, drawing envy from new students and hostility from Bei Bei.
