Background / History

The Starry Express was one of ten thousand traversing Starry Expresses seeking people with the spirit of Trailblazing. It accidentally arrived on Earth, where it selected Lin Yu after recognizing his persistence, risk-taking nature, and tendency to overturn disadvantaged situations in games. It then transported him to the Douluo Continent, where it manifested as his Martial Soul. 82

Lin Yu first awakened it while awaiting execution in a Heaven Dou Empire dungeon. With insufficient Soul Power to control its destination, he forced a Warp rather than remain to die. The resulting jump carried him ten thousand years into the future, revealing that its Warp could cross time as well as space. 1

Its contracts became Lin Yu's means of growth. The Starry Express generates Golden Contracts on its own; signatories share their Martial Souls with Lin Yu and become companions eligible to travel aboard the train. As its Pioneer roster grows, the Express gains a more complete physical form and expanded functions. 3 37 69 73

At Rank 70, the Starry Express ceased to be exclusively Lin Yu's Martial Soul. Its contracts merged with the train, granting every contracted Pioneer the ability to summon it. Lin Yu instead inherited the pure power of Trailblazing and could Warp through time and space without the train's aid. 78

The Starry Express initially manifests as an ethereal, expanding phantom that envelops Lin Yu during a Warp. Its later physical form is a massive train with a large engine, multiple carriages, and a whistle audible across its surroundings. 1 37 38

It displays unusual understanding of Lin Yu, describing its mission as fully understanding every Pioneer it selects. It considers Lin Yu exceptionally suited to Trailblazing and believes he has a high likelihood of becoming the God of Trailblazing. 82
