In the Land of the Extreme North, the wind and snow cut like blades. Heaven and earth stretched vast and bleak, and all was silent. The frigid wind swept snowflakes across the ice plains with a howling roar, as though murmuring for the arrival of a new era. Amid this wilderness and silence, two figures walked through the snow, their steps steady and their auras unfathomable. The man in front wore a black robe that snapped in the wind, with dark hammer-and-sickle patterns embroidered along its hem. A golden mark flickered faintly between his brows. He was Yang Jun, who had crossed over once more from the world of ten thousand years ago. Behind him, a silver radiance tore through the snow. His spiritual power was as vast as the sea, his gaze like lightning, and the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion Martial Soul flickered behind him. It was Huo Yuhao.
The two met atop a high cliff on the ice plains. Wind and snow swirled around them, yet could not enter within three feet of their bodies. Yang Jun looked at Huo Yuhao with a blazing gaze. "You came."
Huo Yuhao nodded, his clear voice piercing through the wind and snow. "I sensed the power of Dao Seeds awakening in the wilderness. Millions of ordinary souls are beginning to break free of their shackles. This is not merely reform—it is rebirth. But without order after awakening, chaos will inevitably follow. If soul masters have nowhere to belong, the Dao will become empty as well."
Yang Jun smiled, the golden mark in his eyes flashing faintly. "I spread the Dao, and you establish its principles. Our paths do not conflict. They complement one another."
As his words fell, heaven and earth seemed to tremble. The power of Dao Seeds and the Sea God's Light met in the air, one black and one silver, shining together like stars and moonlight and illuminating the entire Extreme North Ice Plains. The ice split open, and golden light surged from beneath the ground, as though an ancient will were answering this resonance of souls. From that day onward, they made an oath: to take the Dao as their heart and souls as their foundation, unite the continent, rebuild order, ensure that soul masters would no longer be enslaved, and leave no oppression beneath heaven.
The Star Luo Empire was the first to face them.
Relying on a rank-nine Soul Tool Grand Array and an army of a million soul tools, the Star Luo imperial family had long suppressed commoner soul masters, treating them as tools, conscripting their strength and seizing their souls. The people lived in misery. Yang Jun led the Dao Guide Guards into the imperial city first. Without killing a single person, he used only the power of Dao Seeds to awaken one hundred thousand low-ranking soul masters, allowing their convictions to condense into Thought Soul Rings and leading them to collectively defy orders. In an instant, crimson light soared into the sky both within and beyond the imperial city. Ordinary people wielded hammers and shattered every chain. Soul cannon emplacements shut down on their own, while soul tool armor disintegrated by itself—because their operators had awakened and no longer wished to serve the oppressors.
Huo Yuhao used the Spirit Eyes Martial Soul to see through the imperial family's schemes and Emotion Control to break the will of the Worship Hall. His spiritual power was as vast as the sea, suppressing the three Titled Douluo until they could not make a move. The Star Luo Emperor knelt before the hall and said in a trembling voice, "If we cling to the old system any longer, we will surely perish beneath the people's wrath."
The two did not seize his throne, but they established new laws: ● The Soul Master enslavement system was abolished. All who awakened Martial Souls were free;
● Dao Guide Academies and a Soul Master Council were established to jointly deliberate state affairs. Soul masters could participate in government, join the military, and study high-level Soul Tools;
● Every city was to establish a Dao Rain Pavilion for the people to discuss the Dao, voice grievances, and debate governance;
● Soul Tool Workshops were constructed and independently managed by commoner soul masters, with technology shared by all.
The Heaven Dou Empire was filled with powerful clans. Nobles monopolized soul tool resources, while commoner soul masters could never advance in their lifetimes. Those with weak Martial Souls were even degraded as Lowly Souls and forbidden from entering soul tool academies. Using the Dao Field as his foundation, Yang Jun spread his teachings far and wide, awakening the Will of the People. Outside the Heavenly Soul capital, he established a Dao Field and preached for seven days and seven nights. He spoke of how "souls are not tools, and ordinary people may also pursue the Dao." Countless commoner soul masters wept, kneeling and bowing to the ground.
Huo Yuhao used spiritual power to break their Soul Tool Grand Array, exposed the corruption of the powerful clans, and used the Sea God's Light to purify their violent resentment. The elder offerings of the three great families were moved, willingly handing over the Soul Tool Secret Codex and opening the Soul Tool Library.
The two did not rely on slaughter, but on the Dao and wisdom to dismantle the old powers. The Heavenly Soul Emperor voluntarily abdicated and yielded the throne to the Soul Master Joint Governance Council. New laws were established: ● Martial Souls knew no nobility or lowliness; all could cultivate Dao Guide Technique;
● Soul Tool technology was shared, and Public Soul Tool Workshops were established;
● Dao Guide Schools were founded, where children studied the Dao Heart Art from a young age and condensed soul rings with their thoughts;
● Soul Tool Arenas were established, where status was determined by skill rather than birth.
Heavenly Soul returned to the Dao.
In the Dou Ling Empire, remnants of Spirit Hall remained entrenched.
The old doctrine still revered "soul masters as supreme, ordinary people as slaves." The cult leader oppressed the people through divine authority, declaring, "Dao Seeds are evil abominations and must be exterminated." Yang Jun did not suppress them by force. Instead, he erected a Dao Discussion Platform outside the capital and debated the High Priest on the "nature of souls" for three days and three nights.
"Soul beasts possess spirit, soul masters possess will, and ordinary people possess hearts. If soul masters regard themselves as gods, how are they any different from nobles? The Dao is not on lofty platforms, but in the fields; not in divine statues, but in people's hearts."
In the end, the High Priest collapsed to the ground and wept bitterly. "I was obsessed for a hundred years, yet one sentence from you has awakened me. What we worship was never a god, but a tool of oppression."
Huo Yuhao used the Sea God's Light to help him awaken a Compassion Soul Ring. From then on, Dou Ling abolished the old system and established the Soul Dao Academy, honoring Yang Jun and Huo Yuhao as the Dual Sage Masters. Spirit Hall's former site was rebuilt into Dao Rain Academy, where Soul Tools and Dao arts were taught.
The three great empires submitted, and the continent was initially settled.
Ten years of cultivation; Dao Fire Spreads Like Wildfire.
Yang Jun and Huo Yuhao neither proclaimed themselves emperors nor founded a sect. On the summit of an unnamed mountain in the central plains, they erected a colossal stele—the Dao Rain Stele. Its inscription was personally written by Huo Yuhao and carved by Yang Jun with the power of Dao Seeds:
Once this stele stood, the west came to pay tribute. Star Luo presented the Book of Ten Thousand People, Heavenly Soul sent the General Outline of Soul Tools, and the people of Dou Ling voluntarily built a thousand Dao Rain Pavilions. Everyone could cultivate Dao Guide Technique, and Soul Tools spread throughout cities and countryside. Children condensed soul rings with their thoughts and no longer hunted soul beasts. Soul masters used Dao Hammers to build roads and Soul Tool Arrays to control floods. The world entered an age of great peace.
An echo from the Sea God Pavilion:
Night, Sea God Pavilion.
Huo Yuhao stood before the Sea God's statue, sensing the tens of millions of awakened soul masters across the continent. Deeply moved, he thought, He did not enter the Tang Sect, yet he made Dao Fire burn across the wilderness. He did not establish a sect, yet he let ordinary people wield hammers and shatter the heavens.
The Sea God's statue trembled faintly, and an ancient will descended:
Huo Yuhao looked into the distance and softly said, "Destiny does not lie in heaven, but in people. It lies in the hearts of every soul master unwilling to kneel any longer."
Several decades later, the winds and snow of the Extreme North remained unchanged.
Some saw two figures walking through the snow, one black and one silver. One held a Dao Hammer, while the other carried a Sea God Pearl. They did not dwell in the imperial court or establish sects. They merely spread the Dao through the wilderness and taught their methods in border cities. Wherever they went, Dao Fields rose, golden light shone, ordinary people awakened, and soul masters gave their hearts.
A young man asked, "Why do you not proclaim yourselves emperors? Why do you not establish a sect?"
Yang Jun smiled and replied, "The Dao never belonged to anyone. If I established a sect, the Dao would become a private instrument. If I became emperor, the Dao would become authority. The true Dao should be like wind, like rain, like light—everywhere, yet never possessing anything."
Huo Yuhao looked toward the starry sky, the Sea God Pearl glimmering faintly. "We are only guides for sparks. The true light comes from the millions upon millions of awakened souls. They are the masters of the future."
The wind rose, and snow fell.
Before the Dao Rain Stele, golden light flickered faintly. Like sparks spreading into a prairie fire, it would forever illuminate the human world.
They were not emperors, nor were they gods.
They merely returned the Dao to where it had always belonged.
And true unification was not the merging of territories, but the moment when millions of soul masters—
At last, straightened their backs.
From then on, there were no more "enslaved souls" on the continent, only "those who followed the Dao."
Dao Fire never died, and rain nourished a thousand autumns.
Sparks spread across the plains, and souls illuminated mountains and rivers.
Later generations sang praises: in the history books of the Douluo Continent, there was no "Yang Jun Empire," nor was there a "Huo Yuhao Dynasty."
There were only the four words "Dao Rain Era," carved upon the steles of every city and sung in every child's nursery rhyme.
For they knew—true unification was not conquest, but awakening. True strength was not soul skills, but the human heart. The wind and snow remained, but the earth had grown warm. The Dao had entered the world.
Of course, all of that came later.
