Background / History

Transmigration and Earth Vein lineage

Yang Jun transmigrates to the Douluo Continent and grows up in Holy Spirit Village as the son of a farming family. At age six, he awakens a Hoe and Scythe Martial Soul with half-level Soul Power, leaving others doubtful that he can even absorb a Soul Ring. His parents instead teach him that Soul Power has measurable limits, while the “Soul Heart” does not. 1 2

His parents reveal that their family descends from Earth Vein Guardians, protectors bound to the land rather than conventional combat Soul Masters. Yang Jun's Martial Soul is naturally compatible with the earth veins, allowing him to sense soil, roots, moisture, temperature, and disturbances beneath the ground. 1

Bibi Dong gives him an Earth Vein Crystal, which expands his perception and helps him overcome the constraints of his low initial Soul Power. During the Holy Spirit Village Earth Vein Crack crisis, he develops Earth Vein Fire, defeats corrupted spiders, and repairs the damaged earth vein alongside Bibi Dong. 1 2

Abyssal inheritance and identity

After Bibi Dong summons him to the Star Dou Great Forest, Yang Jun learns that Spirit Hall seeks to exploit an Earth Vein Soul Locking Array to open the Abyssal Rift. He absorbs Earth Vein Spirit Rings, awakens the Source of Earth Veins, and helps close the rift with Bibi Dong. 3

His father, Yang Zhen, had previously used Soul Bone fragments and the Ice Soul Heart to seal the Abyssal Mother Nest. Yang Jun inherits this oath, using his bloodline, the Soul Bone Shard, and the Ice Soul Heart to open Yang Zhen's barrier and ultimately complete the seal with Bibi Dong and Su Li. 6 9

Later revelations show that Qian Xunji experimented on Yang Jun, using ice and abyssal power in an attempt to make him a vessel for “purifying the world.” Yang Jun sacrifices himself to seal the awakened Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, then revives after seven days. When Qian Xunji's consciousness awakens within him, Yang Jun rejects his creator's purpose and chooses his bond with Yu Xiaogang instead. 21 24

Appearance

Yang Jun is first depicted as a six-year-old village boy. His eyes are repeatedly described as blue; after his revival, his pupils shift from gray-white to deep blue with a trace of silver. 1 24

In his later role as the Son of Soul Beasts, he wears a gray-brown robe patterned with beast markings, bears faint golden patterns across his brow, and has eyes described as deep black jade. 62

  • Carries the Hoe-Sickle Martial Soul, later transformed into the Shennong Hoe. 1 35
  • Develops golden Earth Vein patterns across his hands and palm while using Earth Vein Power. 1 8
  • Bears the Ice Soul Heart, whose blue-crystal radiance responds to seals, corruption, and Earth Vein Power. 7 9
  • Later carries a Dao Seed within his chest, which resonates with distant Dao inheritances. 50

Personality

Yang Jun is defined by perseverance and refusal to accept inherited limitations. Rather than pursuing strength through ordinary Soul Master conventions, he turns his half-level Soul Power and farming background into a distinct path built on earth veins, cultivation, and protection. 1 2

He treats protection as a responsibility rather than authority. His goal is not merely to defeat enemies or attain godhood, but to ensure that ordinary people can farm, defend themselves, and survive without dependence on sects, emperors, or gods. 36 40 41

His ideals can make him uncompromising. Yang Jun is willing to use restrictive arrays against assassins and Spirit Hall infiltrators, bringing him into conflict with Tang San over the boundary between protection and coercion. 39 40

He also shows strong empathy toward those harmed or excluded by existing systems, including impoverished commoners, weak Martial Soul users, fugitives, and soul beasts. 41 51 57 62
