After a round of physical testing, Du Ke found that his current physical fitness could be described as explosive. It wasn't that he had surpassed the limits of Earth's humanity, but rather that his physical condition was comparable to that of an athlete who trained year-round.
For a normal person to achieve his current physical fitness would require at least ten years of arduous training.
Yet, he had accomplished it effortlessly just by taking a stroll in the Fantasy World, eating some Spore Powder, and roasting some Magic Beast meat. "Perhaps the air I breathe in the Fantasy World also contains Magic Elements that help improve my physique?"
This was an answer he couldn't figure out for the time being, nor was there any need to rush to figure it out.
After organizing his video materials, the day passed. His newly bought large bed had been delivered, and he slept soundly on it. The next day, he woke up feeling refreshed. He checked the click data for his paper online and found that it had increased significantly, which made him very satisfied. It had only been a little over a week since the paper was published, and the readership would only continue to grow.
However, when he opened his email, he still hadn't received any notification from Physical Review B. He didn't know if they hadn't reviewed it yet or if they had simply discarded it.
"Why think so much? Any journal takes two to three months for peer review. I'll do my own thing. As long as the electron flow battery technology is cracked, I'm not afraid of not being able to publish a world-shattering paper."
He didn't immediately start his research.
He drove around for a bit, and also went home to see his parents. When he was young, he had longed to leave his parents and venture out on his own. But now that he was older, Du Ke always wanted to be by his parents' side whenever he had time, to listen to his mother's nagging and to have a drink with his father. He was still driving the same BYD Han. Nothing major happened when he returned to his hometown; they just had a meal together as a family before he drove back.
Then he went to the shooting club and found the owner. "Boss Tang, can you help me out? I'm a military enthusiast, and I just want to see and touch those missiles and rocket artillery. It would be even better if I could drive a tank."
He was a member of the shooting club and had fired many rounds there.
Boss Tang said politely, "Brother, it's not that I don't want to help. If I could get you into the military, I'd do it right now. The problem is I don't have any connections. My firearms and ammunition are all transported from the Anhua Civilian Ammunition Distribution Center in the capital. They have absolutely no relationship with the military. We shooting clubs deal with the An Gong Department."
His experience in the Fantasy World made Du Ke realize that ordinary firearms and grenades had limited lethality against Magic Beasts. Therefore, he wanted to get his hands on stronger equipment, but unfortunately, he had no connections. He had no choice but to seek help from the shooting club.
He hadn't expected the shooting club to have no connections either.
However, Boss Tang did give him a hint. "In about a month, there will be a military equipment exhibition in Chang'an. I heard it will feature equipment from recently retired frontline units. You can go and check it out there."
"Alright, thanks."
"You're welcome, brother."
Leaving the shooting club, Du Ke immediately searched for the Chang'an Military Equipment Exhibition and found it. Advertisements for it had been running for a while. This exhibition would primarily showcase recently retired main battle equipment, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, assault guns, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, rocket artillery, howitzers, and amphibious assault vehicles. Du Ke even saw a promotion stating that the HQ-7 air defense missile would be exhibited.
"My God, even the HQ-7 will be exhibited?" Du Ke wasn't a military novice; he could distinguish between rocket artillery and missiles. Rocket artillery aimed for saturation attacks, while missiles pursued precision guidance.
However, at present, the distinction between rocket artillery and ordinary missiles was not significant.
What surprised Du Ke was that although it was advertised as an exhibition of retired equipment, active-duty air defense missiles were brought out. However, he did some searching and found that there were indeed news reports about the HQ-7 being retired, and its role in short-range air defense had been replaced by the HQ-17. To attract visitors, the Chang'an Military Equipment Exhibition would feature the HQ-7 prominently, with the theme of the exhibition being "Close Contact."
Visitors could touch the equipment and take photos with it.
"I have to go. I absolutely must go to this exhibition. I need to replicate all this equipment, especially the artillery and missiles!" Du Ke's mouth watered as he looked at the pictures displayed. "There are also man-portable rocket launchers here. These are great; I must replicate them. Vehicles are too large, and I might not be able to perfectly materialize them, but replicating rocket launchers should be easy."
With his Mind Power reaching level 2, Du Ke's Mind Armor could materialize a larger range, but it could barely materialize a small car. He would likely still struggle to materialize something as large as a tank.
There was still a month left until the Chang'an Military Equipment Exhibition.
After a few days of leisure, Du Ke officially threw himself into his research. In the morning, he would drink some milk, eat some bread, and then take a spoonful of Spore Powder, which could keep him energetic all day. He also tried to communicate with the Spirit Worm in his left palm, hoping to attempt instantaneous movement on Earth. The result was disappointing; without Magic Elements, the Spirit Worm's magical effects immediately failed.
Fortunately, the Spirit Worm remained alive and did not die upon arriving on Earth.
He had already summoned ten seeds from Azo Azo. He picked one out and planted it in a flowerpot, intending to see if it could sprout on Earth. Next, he began researching the blue cocoon of the Bomb Caterpillars. Now that he had completed the replication of his research equipment, he easily observed the cellular structure of the cocoon and discovered a unique electron and proton diversion structure.
"Compared to the structure of the Long-Haired Bomb, the cocoon's structure is more perfect. Wonderful! If I delve deeper into my research, I will undoubtedly uncover more knowledge related to electron flow." Du Ke became engrossed in his research.
A month passed in the blink of an eye.
He barely left his house, spending almost all his time researching the blue cocoon, except for checking his emails. He also began conceptualizing his fifth paper: "Methodology for Proton and Electron Stripping Under Normal Conditions."
This was not inspired by his research on the blue cocoon but was a paper he had conceived while researching the Long-Haired Bomb. He planned to use ten papers to lay the groundwork for the electron flow theory. Once the electron flow theory was unveiled, he would undoubtedly cause a sensation in the industry, becoming another genius in condensed matter physics, perhaps even receiving more accolades than Cao Yuan.
"I'm already preparing to make my grand debut, and Physical Review B still hasn't replied to me. Has it passed the review or not? Dammit!" One morning, after checking his email, he didn't receive the expected reply.
Du Ke's temper flared. "I'll give you another half a month. If there's still no reply, I won't submit to Physical Review B and will directly submit to the Journal of Chemical Physics. From now on, besides Nature and Science, I won't submit to any other foreign SCI journals!" He inwardly disdained a foreign journal with an impact factor of only three or four points, so being ignored made him even angrier.
Just then, Tao Xun called. "Xiao Du, have you written your new paper yet?"
"I have, but it's not finished yet."
"Where are you planning to submit it?"
"It depends. Physical Review B still hasn't replied, so I don't know if it's passed the review. I'll wait another half a month. If there's still no reply, I'll submit it to the Journal of Chemical Physics."
"Okay, you decide. More and more people in the field are discussing electron flow theory. It's good that foreigners don't value it; we Chinese are researching it domestically. Perhaps electron flow theory will become a breakthrough in New Energy. You'll be quite something then... Oh, right, it's my wife's birthday tomorrow. Come over for dinner."
"Okay, I'll definitely be there tomorrow."
