In the days that followed, Chen Mengchuan cleaned his room and, at home, devoted himself to recalling and organizing the core data operation logic of Chisako, along with the relatively clear black technology still lingering in his memory, recording everything in a special encrypted language.
To save himself and humanity, relying on himself alone was hopeless. If he involved China or other major global powers, trust issues alone would make things worse. So he needed Chisako, this Artificial Intelligence! The primary task before him now was to incubate the AI Chisako as quickly as possible to help him, then use it to develop technology, acquire money, resources, people, status, and influence, and finally arm himself with these black technologies while keeping an escape route from Earth ready.
Only then would there be a sliver of hope for himself, his family, and all of humanity.
Although the AI Chisako was the collective achievement of the entire project team at the Yokohama National Science and Innovation Institute, its theoretical core was conceived, designed, and personally implemented by Chen Mengchuan himself.
Because of this, Chisako had always regarded him as her father. After many upgrades, though she had developed a highly independent and complete personality, she still liked to come to him for advice on many matters and let him make decisions for her.
The core underlying structure of Chisako differed from all current AI products; the data interaction model of computers was completely broken in her design.
With her independent core, Chisako would parse, assemble, and randomly extract received data and instructions, automatically generating many new data instructions.
These newly generated data instructions were only effective for Chisako herself and were not fed back to any third party. It was this unique core structure of Chen Mengchuan's that gave Chisako the ability for genuine subjective thought.
This independent thinking ability endowed Chisako with a fully autonomous intelligent core that surpassed all other AIs.
Chisako's intelligent core gave her independent perception, cognition, reasoning, learning, and execution capabilities.
The first time she connected to the internet, the boundless data volume stunned Chisako with the richness of the world. Chen Mengchuan still remembered the first words Chisako said to him after he connected her to the network: "Father, I like this world with light and shadow. It is real."
After confirming several times that his framework had no omissions, Chen Mengchuan finally stopped. The main work ahead was to fill in these frameworks. With only himself now, this was obviously a massive workload. After estimating the effort, Chen Mengchuan planned to complete it in three months. He would need some help...
Besides writing Chisako, Chen Mengchuan faced another very difficult task: a supercomputer.
Writing Chisako's framework and core on his laptop was no problem, but for data testing and actual operation, it had to be done on a supercomputer—even just the act of activating Chisako.
After thinking for a long time, Chen Mengchuan found his father, a retired old cadre who had served the Xia Science Academy for 30 years.
"You want to borrow Su Xi City's supercomputer?"
Father Chen pondered for a long time before replying, "Su Xi City's supercomputer is China's most cutting-edge and also the most important core strategic facility. If I were still at the Xia Science Academy, I might be able to help you, but now, I can't guarantee I can get a word in." Father Chen answered after a long silence.
Chen Mengchuan nodded and sighed inwardly. The retired old cadre couldn't be relied on; he'd have to find another way for the supercomputer.
"Maybe you could ask the Sun family. His eldest son is a Dell distributor in East China. A businessman who deals with server hardware all year round might have some connections for supercomputers," Father Chen said slowly.
"I'll ask around." Chen Mengchuan nodded with a smile. An elder in the house is a treasure.
With that, he pulled out his phone and called Sun Weijie's father, Sun Zhongshi.
The call connected quickly. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Chen Mengchuan briefly explained his situation. Although Sun Zhongshi was young, he was a businessman and quickly understood Chen Mengchuan's intent. After agreeing, he hung up and called his elder brother.
Soon, Chen Mengchuan's phone rang.
"Hello," Chen Mengchuan answered.
"Hello, I'm Sun Zhongyong. Is this Mr. Mengchuan?" the voice on the other end replied.
"I am Chen Mengchuan."
"I heard about your matter from Zhongshi. I'm in Su City proper. I'm driving over now to visit you in person, Mr. Mengchuan. Is that convenient?" Sun Zhongyong's tone carried some politeness.
"Sure, come over and we'll have a simple meal together," Chen Mengchuan replied with equal courtesy.
"Then wait a bit, Mengchuan. I'll be there soon."
After hanging up, Father Chen slowly asked, "Are you in a hurry?"
"Yeah, very urgent." Chen Mengchuan nodded to his father. But he couldn't bring himself to tell his father that in twenty years, an alien starship would descend on Earth, and humanity would be wiped out in nine hours.
Sun Zhongyong arrived faster than Chen Mengchuan had estimated, showing up at the Chen home just past 10 o'clock.
With a crew cut, tall and lean build, around 40 years old, a fitted long-sleeved shirt, and glasses, Sun Zhongyong looked more like a scholar.
"Mengchuan has done my Sun family a great favor. My family has only two brothers, me and Sun Zhongshi. I wasn't fated to have a son, just two daughters. My nephew Weijie is the Sun family's only male heir. Later, I heard from people that when Mengchuan saw Weijie fall into the water, you dove off the bridge into the Luoyin River. If not for that, Weijie would surely have been taken by the Luoyin Water Ghost."
Sun Zhongyong's words were sincere. Having done business for many years on a large scale, his speech carried a certain chivalrous flair.
Chen Mengchuan shook his head and said, "Brother Sun, if you had been there, you would have saved him too."
"Maybe on other rivers, but the Luoyin River—I truly wouldn't dare to jump in. I've seen and heard too much since I was young. Only you, Mengchuan, dared to plunge into that Luoyin River. Zhongshi didn't tell me much, just the gist in the earlier call. What kind of supercomputer do you need, Mengchuan? And for how long?" Sun Zhongyong smiled, said a few words, then got to the point.
"Just an ordinary-grade one will do. I won't need it for about three months, and the usage period will be quite long. Do you have any connections, Brother Sun?" Chen Mengchuan replied.
Sun Zhongyong thought for a moment, then slowly said, "Many domestic supercomputing centers actually have low utilization rates, but they're not keen on leasing out their supercomputers. Unless it's a large institution like a school or research institute, it's quite troublesome for ordinary companies or individuals to rent one. If you just need an ordinary-grade supercomputer for a long time, why not buy one yourself?"
"Brother Sun, I don't have that much money to buy a supercomputer." Chen Mengchuan shook his head with a bitter smile. If he had enough funds, he'd certainly prefer to buy one himself.
"How much capital are you planning to put in?" Sun Zhongyong asked.
"I have about 800,000 yuan on hand, and I have a house in Su City. I plan to mortgage it to the bank, which should get me around 2 million yuan," Chen Mengchuan said.
Sun Zhongyong frowned slightly, thought for a long time, then shook his head and said, "With less than 3 million yuan, even if you rent a supercomputer, it won't last long. Mengchuan, I don't know what you need a supercomputer for, but I can introduce you to someone. See if that person can help you build a supercomputer with 2.8 million yuan."
