History

Wutan City is Xiao Yan's birthplace and childhood home. His public Dou Qi test at the Xiao Family training ground leaves him facing ridicule after he registers only the third stage. Hun Ruoruo subsequently approaches him on the family's back mountain and offers to help him grow stronger 6 7 24.

The Xiao and Jia Lie families' rivalry intensifies over commerce and the death of Jia Lie Ao. After the Xiao Family's clash with its rival, its Coming-of-Age Ceremony draws visiting factions and returning family members 27 53. Jia Nan Academy later grants Wutan City an additional Special Enrollment Student slot, effectively benefiting the Xiao Family; the academy's enrollment testing draws crowds to the city center 62 69.

Xiao Yan leaves Wutan City to train and returns about two years later to find his father missing and his family under attack. He defeats Jia Lie Bu and investigates the assault on the Xiao Family 85 233 235 236. To preserve the clan, the family subsequently relocates from Wutan City to a new residence in the Imperial Capital 279 293.

Years later, Hun Ruoruo returns to Wutan City to ask the Xiao Family to move again, this time to the Heavenly Tomb for safety. Xiao Yan and Hun Ruoruo revisit the back mountain before the family departs 914 918.
