Parallel dimension.
[September 11, 2020, an Ancient Red Dragon attacked New York Times Square, Manhattan Island was submerged, and the dragon's furious flames billowed over the Statue of Liberty like dust and smoke from a volcanic eruption. People fled in terror...]
[November 14, 2020, New Zealand fell. The Naga Clan, which mysteriously appeared from the sea, declared sovereignty over the islands. In the same month, traces of Siren activity appeared in southern Australia, and several ships went missing.]
[May 7, 2021, the gods of the Pro World descended. A large number of active new-generation deities began to spread so-called "gospel" and "faith." Earth and the other world officially merged.]
Xu Nan checked his phone and confirmed that it was 7:13 PM on November 20, 2019.
He was currently sitting on the sofa in his living room, having maintained this posture for over five hours.
Five hours ago, he was still browsing videos – recently, there were many rumors about extraordinary individuals appearing in cities. The most popular one was a short video of a bald man in a suit jumping between the tops of skyscrapers in the famous financial district of H City.
Although the video was less than eight seconds long, it had been shared tens of millions of times. Many people were curious about the bald man's background and how he could pull off such a stunt in such a prime location. However, sensitive individuals seemed to have noticed that the relevant authorities had begun to suppress the influence of such videos online.
"If you swapped that suit for a uniform, he'd be Spider-Man!"
"But his movements are also very similar to a Monk in the D&D (Note 1) world."
"He seems to be chasing something. Is it really special effects?"
These were the thoughts in Xu Nan's mind when he watched the video.
Then he was struck by a mysterious current.
An ancient and cliché voice sounded in his ear: "Do you desire power?"
Xu Nan was stunned for a moment, then retorted angrily, "Nonsense! Besides the shut-ins in those Japanese light novels, who doesn't desire power?"
"As you wish."
After the voice finished, a large stream of information began to pour into Xu Nan's mind, including a series of fragments of the "future."
It took him a full five hours to digest this information from another world.
"Ron Sorcerer bloodline? The fantasy world and Earth merging?"
Although Xu Nan considered himself to have a wild imagination, he was still stunned by this barrage of information.
He took a moment to compose himself. To confirm that everything wasn't an illusion, he silently repeated in his mind:
"Character."
A translucent character card slowly unfolded before his eyes –
[Xu Nan, 19-year-old Human]
[Life: 28, Mana: 46 (Invalid)]
[Attributes: Strength 11 / Agility 11 / Constitution 9 / Intelligence 17 / Perception 15 / Charisma 18]
[Profession: Ron Sorcerer Lv0 (Bloodline inherited but not awakened)]
[Talents: None]
[Feats: Personal Feat - Dexterous Hands (Effect of all crafting-related feats increased by 50%)]
[Feats: Personal Feat - Versatile (Skill points required to learn cross-profession skills are halved)]
[Familiar: None]
[Skills: None / Skill Points: 0]
[Shame Points: 0 (Can be used directly to increase Sorcerer level)]
[Combat Points: 0]
He still wasn't convinced, so he whispered another word: "Tasks."
The translucent character card immediately turned into a task card.
[Task 1 - Initial Awakening Task for Ron Sorcerer Bloodline: Be Bold and Love!]
[Task Description: A week ago, you fell in love with that nurse girl because of her eyes. Why not boldly confess? Even if you fail, it will still be a wonderful experience.]
[Task Reward: 10 Shame Points / Initial Bloodline Awakening]
[Task 2 - Optional Task for Sorcerer Bloodline Awakening: No One Can Steal My Rainbow Lollipop!]
[Task Description: A while ago, an annoying brat bought the lollipop you liked most from a certain counter before you could. A gentleman doesn't rest until this grudge is settled. Get your revenge!]
[Task Reward: 1 Shame Point]
It seemed to be true, at least the changes in himself were real.
Recent news had been reporting abnormal weather conditions around the world, and the long-dormant doomsday theories were once again rampant online. Xu Nan had almost believed them and was preparing to stock up on instant noodles, but now, having inherited the supreme bloodline from another world, he saw the door to a new world.
If everything in his mind was true, it meant that a Western magic fantasy world similar to Dungeons & Dragons was about to invade Earth. From the initial collision phase to the later convergence phase and finally the fusion phase, it would take no more than three years for his world to undergo a massive transformation.
He was fortunate. In the initial collision phase of the two worlds, for various reasons, he had obtained the inheritance of bloodline power from another world.
But when he clearly saw the character card and all its contents, he was instantly dumbfounded:
"Aren't Sorcerers supposed to be the richest and most handsome of all professions? Don't they just need to eat, sleep, and flirt with girls to automatically awaken their bloodline power, level up, and gain spells?"
"Why is my Sorcerer different from everyone else's?"
"Why do I have to do embarrassing things to gain power!?"
Xu Nan had a slight understanding of the rules of the D&D world. In his perception, Sorcerers were the typical rich and handsome profession – good-looking with high charisma, making it easy to pick up girls; they didn't need to study, just awaken their bloodline power to gain the ability to cast spells, which was much more leisurely than those otaku Mages who spent all day wearing thick glasses, researching spell models or magic systems in deep, dark Mage Towers; Sorcerers participated in adventures more to improve their spell techniques and gain experience, or purely for fun. Compared to other miserable non-magic professions, Sorcerers were usually both rich and powerful.
Aside from occasionally being envied for being too handsome, which could twist people's minds, they basically had no flaws.
But the bloodline inheritance Xu Nan obtained, called the Ron Sorcerer, seemed a bit different.
Ron Sorcerers claimed to be the most powerful group of people in the multiverse. Their bloodline was incredibly strong. The most powerful Ron Sorcerers could single-handedly challenge Arcane Masters with Cloud Ascending Ships or Grand Mages hiding in Floating Cities, and could even destroy weak deities with one hand.
Ron Sorcerers had a unique bloodline growth system – which was what Xu Nan had seen earlier on the character sheet and in the various strange quests. As long as they completed the quests, they would have a chance to awaken the power hidden within their bloodline and gain a large number of skill points, spells, and feats.
They even had their own dedicated planes and spacetime tunnels. Everyone who became a Ron Sorcerer was fortunate, but the growth journey of every Ron Sorcerer was arduous.
Like Xu Nan now.
In the corner of the character sheet, the description of him was:
A fledgling Ron Sorcerer, you must overcome your shame to gain the recognition of the supreme bloodline and awaken your own power. You are still very weak now. Do you have the resolve to do whatever it takes for power?
Xu Nan's answer was, of course:
"No!"
"If I can do whatever it takes for power, then what's the difference between me and Daniel Wu (Note 2)?"
"For a mere bit of power, you want me to abandon my shame? Impossible!"
Of course, Xu Nan couldn't actually follow the bloodline awakening quest and confess to that nurse sister. Who knew how this quest was designed? Although at the time he was getting circumcised, he really thought that sister's shy expression was super cute, but that didn't mean he had to confess to her!
This damn bloodline awakening system, couldn't it give a simpler quest?
However, if the things he saw were all true, then things were serious.
Xu Nan clearly saw that by next spring at the latest, a large number of creatures from other worlds would appear in his city. The physical laws of Earth might change, and it was still unknown whether human thermal weapons could withstand these creatures at that time.
If he couldn't quickly become stronger...
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but look worriedly at the tightly locked door of the room on the second floor.
Just at this moment, the phone he had been keeping on his desk vibrated.
A WeChat message flashed across the screen. On the left side of the dialogue box was a cute girl's avatar –
[Xin'er: Hungry.]
Xu Nan slapped his forehead. Unconsciously, it was already past seven o'clock. Dinner was a bit late, so he could only order takeout. But thinking of that person's temperament, Xu Nan got a headache. He couldn't help but send a message asking:
"How about pizza tonight?"
[Xin'er: Don't eat.]
Alright, he still had to cook himself. Xu Nan reluctantly put down his phone, stretched his muscles after sitting for a long time, and plunged into the kitchen.
Forty minutes later. The aroma of cooked food drifted from the kitchen. The door of the room on the second floor quietly opened a crack.
Not long after, Xu Nan came out carrying a tray, with a bowl of rice, half a bowl of purple seaweed soup, a few pieces of Coke chicken wings, and a plate of stir-fried greens.
He gently placed the tray on a cabinet outside the room door and muttered through the crack in the door:
"Remember to take it out after you finish eating."
"I'm going out for a while tonight, be careful when you're home alone."
"I made it in a hurry today, if it doesn't taste good, try to eat some anyway, otherwise you'll be malnourished..."
The corner of the room door opened wider, revealing a pretty face. The person had long black hair, and big eyes looked timidly at Xu Nan in the darkness, just like the first time they met.
"Got it." Xu Nan didn't hear a sound, but judging from the shape of the mouth, it seemed to be this.
He subconsciously wanted to glance into the room, but the angle of the door suddenly changed. The other party's wary eyes made Xu Nan chuckle bitterly.
Even in the darkness, he could see the other person's appearance clearly – long eyelashes, big eyes, a slender neck below a fair face, a cute and playful light pink pajama clinging to the skin, revealing a flat chest, and cute slippers with bows on their feet.
A perfect image of a cute girl, just looking a bit introverted.
Xu Nan silently shook his head in his heart, knowing that if he stood at the door, the other party would not eat, so he quickly went downstairs and finished his dinner in the kitchen.
By the time he came out of the kitchen again, the tray on the cabinet on the second floor had disappeared, and the room door was tightly closed.
He took a deep breath, tidied his clothes slightly, and went out into the night.
Just at this moment, the other party sent another WeChat message:
[Xin'er: Why are you going out tonight? You never used to go out at night.]
Xu Nan thought for a moment and decided to answer truthfully:
"Didn't I have a circumcision last week? I'm going to get the stitches removed today."
He also sent a helpless emoji along with it, but was shocked to find that by the time he sent the emoji, he had already been blocked on WeChat.
What kind of world is this!
Xu Nan almost threw his phone.
Why did he have to have a younger sibling from a different father and mother who had gender identity disorder, mild autism, and was prone to being tsundere and throwing tantrums?!
Note 1: D&D, or Dungeons & Dragons. It is mainly a Western fantasy worldview, including rigorous settings and interesting content. Readers who don't understand D&D will not be affected by this book, and readers who do understand D&D are also hoped to understand some of the magical modifications. In my opinion, D&D is more of a rigorous game spirit than a worldview.
Note 2: The Daniel Wu meme comes from the Warcraft movie, where his portrayal of Gul'dan is a Sorcerer who is famous for doing whatever it takes for power.
