The indicator lights on the construct began to flash.
"...Insufficient permissions."
"Unable to access the details of the 771 Directive."
Xu Nan shrugged. That was more like it.
If he could really pry the truth behind the 771 Directive out of this construct, he would instead have doubted how truthful that "truth" was.
After all, it was merely a construct meant to guide them.
Even in a Projection World, there were rules governing the Projection World. There was no way an outsider like him could so easily learn critical information about this ship.
They waited in the reception room for a while when the speaker beside them suddenly crackled to life. Captain Dilok's voice came through in a rush:
"You two!"
"Come help me, now!"
"Follow the red line, hurry, hurry—fuck!"
What followed was a string of muffled curses. He seemed to have forgotten to turn off the communications device, and Xu Nan could also hear a series of frantic operations.
The mechanical door at the side of the reception room slowly opened, and a dark-red guiding light came on.
After confirming there was no danger, the two hurried after it.
"Who knows what that guy is up to."
Xu Nan could not help muttering to himself.
From the very beginning, he had felt that Mr. Dilok was somewhat strange.
Following the red light, they passed through several long mechanical corridors before finally boarding a somewhat antiquated elevator. After jolting up more than ten levels inside it, they at last reached the captain's quarters.
"A little bumpy, right?"
Dilok's slightly embarrassed voice came from ahead. "I shut down all the teleportation systems, so you could only come through the mechanical section. You don't have the Ship Spirit's authorization, so you can't activate the teleportation array I designed myself."
