Background / History

Shokuhou Misaki was summoned as Su Lin’s new avatar while he was based at Tokiwadai. Her appearance and powers were identical to those of Academy City’s real fifth-ranked Level 5, allowing the avatar to pass as the “Queen of Tokiwadai” and exploit the original’s established faction and intelligence network 129 130 141.

The avatar’s first public actions deliberately created confusion around the real Misaki, including an apparent confession of love to Misaka Mikoto. The real Misaki later encountered the avatar and was led to believe that she was a mass-produced Level 5 clone; the deception exploited the real Misaki’s awareness of Academy City’s darker experiments 130 141 142.
