A group of people silently floated through the hole in the center of the ship's wreckage, moving slowly and cautiously. Even Izax was no exception.
The enormous cavern, the ruptured armor plates, and the ship's structures hidden in the darkness rushed toward them, making even Vivian, who had always been fearless, feel a little uneasy. The bizarre tentacles growing out of the hole made her skin crawl even more. Hao Ren and Izax floated at the front of the group. The latter summoned a cluster of Netherflame to dispel the darkness in the cavern, but the dim light only made the massive tentacles around them look even more eerie and grotesque. They were tangled together along the piles of wreckage, seeming like Shadow Monsters spreading out from the depths of an abyss of sin, sending chills down their spines.
Elizabeth had once led people here to explore, and she climbed onto Izax's shoulder to point out the way. Following the little girl's directions, they found an entrance in the side wall of the cavern. An additional explosion seemed to have occurred there, blasting apart some of the tentacles and exposing a pitch-black passage.
Hao Ren crawled into the passage first and found that there were slightly fewer tentacles inside, but it had likewise already been occupied by the "Firstborn." Thick roots had pierced through the surrounding walls and ceiling, winding through the area and growing into one mass. Of course, just like the tentacles elsewhere, these too were "dead."
Hao Ren sent out the Data Terminal. "Check the surrounding area."
