Everyone crowded around the nearest portholes and stared out in astonishment. Less than a few dozen kilometers from the flight formation floated a massive shadow—the Demon King's City. The black city, which should have been moored near the southern coast of the continent, was now floating at the edge of the atmosphere. No one knew when it had flown here.
Elizabeth narrowed her eyes at the city, then suddenly cried out, "The dome shield isn't on!"
Hao Ren was instantly alarmed. This location was already where the atmosphere became extremely thin, just one step away from outer space. Without its shield, the Demon King's City was no different from floating in the vacuum of space, yet only a small portion of the city's residents could survive there. A thought flashed through everyone's mind like lightning: Something happened to the Demon King's City?!
"Call the airship control room at once," Izax said immediately. But before he had finished speaking, the door to the VIP cabin silently slid open, and several Spirit race technicians hurried in. "Sun King, the Demon King's City is floating near the flight route..."
Hao Ren froze for a moment before realizing that "Sun King" referred to him. This was hardly the time to quibble over titles, so he quickly asked, "How did the Demon King's City drift here? Have you received any notice?"
"No. Before the airship took off, we were still in contact with the Demon King's City station tower. Everything was normal then." The leading Spirit race technician looked tense. "Should we change course and go take a look?"
Hao Ren nearly leaped up. "Do you really have to ask? Hurry over and see what's going on!"
The several Spirit patrol craft escorting them immediately changed course and drew closer to the Demon King's City.
