On every shattered floating platform, the Elder Council's Demon Hunters were in full retreat. Even fleeing into the void beyond the platforms did them no good—the Demon Lord's Army was teeming with winged demons, while the Spiritfolk and elven mages seemed born to fly and were masters of aerial combat. In fact, they might have understood fighting in the air better than the Demon Hunters did: they came from a fragmented world where floating continents and chaotic gravity were simply part of everyday life!
The final group of Elder Council Demon Hunters had been driven into a desperate corner. They were the cream of the crop, and despite being surrounded by demon legions dozens of times their number, they had held out until now. A high-ranking Demon Hunter—quite possibly a master—wielded a silver-white greatsword blazing with holy fire, driving back wave after wave of demons and human warriors. His roar rang across the entire battlefield. "Don't retreat! Don't retreat! Kill them all! Kill them all! Anyone who isn't of our race gets no quarter! Purify every alien race!"
Ordinary legion soldiers were no match for a Demon Hunter of this level. Even leaving aside their wide variety of abilities and equipment, a master Demon Hunter far surpassed any ordinary warrior in close combat alone. This Elder Council Demon Hunter, who had gone berserk with bloodlust, led a large group of high-ranking Demon Hunters in charging left and right. The legion soldiers could only form ranks and struggle to stop them from breaking through, and the situation on that section of the battlefield reached a stalemate.
But the final deadlock was broken soon enough. A tall female demon stepped
