"This is my home!!"
Little Heiserana happily declared, holding up a small branch, in front of a somewhat dilapidated residence.
It was a typical ancient Roman-style home, built with a wooden framework and a mixture of primitive volcanic-ash cement and masonry. It was square and boxy, with tall courtyard walls. Clearly, whoever had lived there had once taken meticulous care of it. It was very clean, with not a single weed growing nearby, and every damaged part of the house itself had been carefully repaired. However, thanks to that endless streak of bad luck, the building had taken on a shabby, poverty-stricken air, and the area surrounding it had become a large, ruined district devoid of residents. People had kept away from this place, which brought misfortune, as though fleeing a plague.
Lily muttered softly, "Vivian was more or less an idle goddess in this era. Even Caesar was afraid of her. Why didn't she simply ask Caesar for a little money? At least enough for a palace or something to live in..."
After hearing this, Heiserana shook her head. "Because Lady Vivian has never liked harming people. She knew how bad her luck was. Ordinary humans couldn't withstand it, and neither could nonhumans. If she'd actually asked Caesar for offerings back then, there wouldn't have been a Roman Empire later in history."

Regardless, little Heiserana, who was still just a girl at this point, was clearly very satisfied with this "home" of hers. It was one of the few places in her childhood that could be called home, somewhere she could live in peace. She proudly introduced it to her guests.
