Following the deployment map of the Demon Hunter garrison in Hassu's memory, everyone avoided the few enemies in the Palace of the Underworld King and hurried through the now utterly silent palace. At that moment, the only things visible throughout the tall, magnificent hall were devastation and ruin. The glorious murals of old had been soaked in blood, the imposing stone statues were covered in marks from blades and axes, and the towering ancient Greek columns had collapsed. Their marble cross-sections had a glassy texture, as though they had melted before cooling and solidifying again. The dead Olympian gods and their servants had been discarded across this battlefield like slaughtered livestock.
The tall "gods" were the most conspicuous figures on the battlefield, but their corpses were not especially common. Most of the bodies in the palace belonged to modified mortal servants, genetically degraded divine descendants, and demigod heroes born of human-god hybrids. Even their ornate armor had been unable to stop them from marching toward death in this apocalyptic calamity. Compared with the Demon Hunters' utterly unreasonable destructive power, the armor and protective spells created by the Olympian "gods" were as helpless as babies. The blood of "gods" and humans had flooded the temple. On some of the stairways where resistance had been fiercest, the congealed blood had even flowed down the steps into a "red carpet" hundreds of meters long.
It was easy to imagine the terrifying sight of blood streaming down those long steps before the battle had ended.
