From the accounts given by the two robot girls whose designations began with N, Hao Ren's understanding of the "Survivor society" in the sky had finally shifted from wild speculation and the vague data Nolan had observed into a more concrete impression.
According to N-4 and N-6, the Survivor society consisted of two major "territories": the Zenith Seat Giant Space Station in high orbit, and the large industrial fortress complex on the lunar surface—the Moon surface base. Each territory served a different function.
The Giant Space Station "Zenith Seat" served a somewhat different purpose from what Hao Ren had initially imagined. It was not the survivors' main base, but rather a forward fortress and command center. This enormous, ancient Space Station had been in service for countless years. Compared with the station hanging in high orbit, the Moon surface base farther away was clearly safer. Thus, the true heartland of the Survivor society was on the moon. The Zenith Seat's location made it unsuitable as a stable place of residence, but it was an outstanding bridgehead. It coordinated and commanded the rebel forces sent to attack the homeworld, while providing temporary quarters, comprehensive repairs, supplies, and maintenance for the troops. Every force rotated in to fight on the homeworld regarded the Zenith Seat as a temporary "homeland."
The Moon surface base, meanwhile, was the foundation of the Survivor society. It was the source of raw materials and the factory complex on which the rebel army depended for survival. In that base, filled with factories, mines, barracks, and Ecological Domes, countless war machines were manufactured nonstop. The "biomass" required for human survival was also synthesized there. It was a production center, as well as the birthplace and home of most of the warriors who had sworn to reclaim their homeworld. General-purpose
