Hao Ren had never expected to get so much information out of the giant. At first, the giant's attitude had made him seem like someone impervious to persuasion, but somehow Hao Ren had struck exactly the right chord and managed to get everything out of him without a hitch. Perhaps it was because all his and his companions' questions happened to be things the giant was willing to answer. Hao Ren was certain that if he had rashly asked about the Goddess's power or the whereabouts of her legacy, the conversation would have fallen apart long ago.
It was precisely because all his questions concerned the truth behind the events of that year that the giant had been so cooperative and trusting.
"Thank you for your patience. Truly." Hao Ren thought for a moment and realized he could not come up with any more questions for the time being, so he sincerely nodded to the giant in thanks. "At first, I thought you absolutely wouldn't cooperate."
"I still don't trust you." The giant's expression remained indifferent, but after their conversation, he no longer displayed any obvious hostility. "That doesn't stop me from telling you these things. You should know about them... Every living being in this world should know. The sins of the past cannot be washed away simply by being forgotten."
Everyone could tell that the giant was deeply conflicted. He had retained his reason, so unlike the other mutated Guardians, he was not blindly consumed by hatred. He knew that taking revenge on the descendants of the traitorous son was meaningless, but he still could not help feeling troubled when he saw "mortals" carrying the bloodline of the traitors. His reason allowed him to set aside such pointless hatred, but his emotions prevented him from forgetting the sight
