Hao Ren fiddled around for a while before he finally figured out the basic operations of the "personal computer" on the table. It looked somewhat similar to a laptop from Earth, but its keyboard functions and system architecture were vastly different. Without the translation plugin in his mind and the help of his past experience, it might have taken him even longer to figure out how to look up information on the device.
After accidentally opening a whole pile of programs, he figured he had found something resembling a browser. To his surprise, he discovered that it was actually connected to the internet.
"I really have no idea how this kind of world managed to keep the global network running," Hao Ren muttered curiously as he watched the images and text slowly refresh on the screen. "Could it be that someone still comes here to collect internet fees?"
The Data Terminal watched the computer screen through Hao Ren's eyes and joined in with its nonsense. "Telecom workers riding armored vehicles and carrying light machine guns to repair optical cables. Don't you think that setting has a certain charm?"
"Instead of spouting nonsense, why don't you help me think of a few search terms?" Hao Ren rubbed his fingers together. "This thing is much more convenient than asking the locals."
The Data Terminal answered casually, "Natural humans, First Generation Evolvers, Second Generation Evolvers, the Great War, the state of the world—these keywords can't be wrong."
Hao Ren operated this world's computer somewhat awkwardly, and the things he wanted to know finally appeared in full before his eyes.
The war spreading across the globe had already lasted for three whole generations.
The humans of this world called the planet beneath their feet "Zom." Translating the meaning, it was roughly equivalent to "Earth"
