The facility once known as the Northern Ring Tower had now mutated into some sort of deep-mountain launch site, with scattered battles breaking out everywhere. The situation was extraordinarily chaotic; perhaps hundreds or even thousands of soldiers were fighting for control of the place. Although this farce had only begun an hour ago, everyone acted as though they had been fighting like this for over a decade. Hao Ren and Nolan did their best to avoid the soldiers along the way, working to find a safe route out through the complex, enormous building. They had encountered a few unavoidable skirmishes, but fortunately their opponents were ordinary people, and none of them were running around carrying a rocket launcher like Nolan. Dealing with them had therefore been fairly easy.
As time passed, the sound of gunfire around them seemed to diminish somewhat. Hao Ren muttered, "Looks like the regular army is about to take complete control of this place."
"There might be explosives underground, so we shouldn't stay here," Nolan muttered. She did not slow down at all, merely raising the short staff in her hand slightly. "Thanks for the weapon. This thing is actually pretty useful."
Although she had no way to master this weapon from the Erem Elves in such a short time, the short staff's shield function had already saved her from danger more than once. After all, no matter how close her combat skills were to the human limit, her body was still made of flesh and blood. Moving through a facility filled with enemy soldiers was no easy task.
