After leaving Tanagrus, Hao Ren did not return home directly. Instead, he teleported to Kuiper Station. He docked his ship at his private berth and watched the workers coming and going through registration and facility maintenance via the external monitors. Beside him stood a translucent phantom, curiosity written across her face. "So this is my home port?"
The translucent phantom was Nolan. While the ship was docked at the Crystal Core Research Station, she had spent over a week adapting to her new "body" and learning the Giant Turtle Rock Platform's many routine operations. She was still far from proficient, but by now she could basically be considered a qualified operations officer.
Her ability to master such complicated knowledge within a week was probably thanks to Nolan's current form of life. Her learning ability no longer needed to be confined to the human range. The Data Terminal had helped remove the performance restraints on the AI girl, and with the shipboard computer's assistance, Nolan learned new knowledge at astonishing speed. During the past week or so, only a small portion of her time had actually been spent learning. Most of her energy had gone toward adapting to her new life.
"When I'm not out on missions, you'll basically be docked here." Hao Ren pointed at the port outside. "You remember the docking procedures, right? Don't forget to send the identification code and receive the guidance signal. You're an imperial government vessel. If you mess around, the trouble you cause could be enormous."
"Got it. You've said that several times already." Nolan put her hands on her hips, then gazed expectantly at the starry sky beyond the other end of the port. "But staying in the port will be really boring, right...?"
