Before leaving Stone City, Hao Ren asked Gai Ze'er curiously about the ancient city. "Do you know what's going on with this ruin?"
Judging from the fact that Gai Ze'er had come to the ruin to perform a ritual, he figured this ancient city must hold special significance for the natives of this world. But since the city and its population still existed, he couldn't understand why Gai Ze'er's people had abandoned such a magnificent and sturdy city in favor of a harsh nomadic life. Perhaps changes in the underground world's climate had forced the people here to live as nomads, but he still wanted to hear Gai Ze'er's explanation.
Gai Ze'er found the question strange at first. "The Goddess should know everything. Why are you asking about the ancient capital?"
He still firmly believed Vivian was the "Goddess" who had created all things in the world and knew everything. That was why he found many of Hao Ren's questions baffling. In the tribal warrior's mind, anyone standing beside the Goddess should be equally omniscient.
This was a tricky question. Explaining where their group had come from could easily prove difficult and destroy the trust they had painstakingly built. Fortunately, Vivian stepped in to save the situation. "The way gods observe the world is different from yours. Explain the changes in this world to us from a human perspective."
Her words were profound and mysterious, with an otherworldly air that made anyone who heard them feel detached from the mundane. Hao Ren couldn't help glancing at her before muttering in Horleta language, "Your acting has improved by leaps and bounds. How did you come up with that?"
Vivian smiled lightly. "Do you think I haven't met enough people who pretended to be gods? The old fogies all talked like that
