The newly built Steel City stood upon an endless grassland. Hundreds of lightning-charged discharge towers rose and fell in uneven rows, forming a shape like some bizarre range of jagged mountains, while lightning and halos adorned the wilderness. The entire city was a colossal machine. Beneath every tower was a complex control core connected to a line leading to the Firstborn's tentacles. Only under its control could the foundation of this planet remain intact.
Hao Ren had named the city Soul Suppressing City. The name suited its function, while also commemorating the ancient spirits who had spent ten thousand years suppressing the Firstborn.
Soul Suppressing City was now the largest—and only—city on the planet. For the moment, however, none of the local natives had moved in apart from the ancient spirits who had taken part in its construction. Gai Ze'er and his people had built a temporary settlement beside the city, and the entire tribe had relocated there. Believing they needed to "follow the Goddess's guidance," they felt it necessary to guard the City of Divine Miracle. Other tribes were also migrating here, and some members of the Fire Tribe had already arrived. They were currently camped beside the Wind Tribe's settlement.
Vivian had summoned representatives of the ancient spirits in the tribal settlement and was asking what had happened during the half-month since she had left. Although the people on Purgatory Planet had remained in contact with Hao Ren and the others through communicators, some matters were still more reassuring when confirmed in person.
Inside a special grand tent, Gragon reported the situation to Vivian and Hao Ren. "The Lullaby Ritual has been completely transferred into the tower forest. The machines are now taking over the work originally performed by the ancient spirits. The transfer went smoothly. As you
