The massive explosion caused by the demonic flames blew the entire gate apart, sending fragments flying in all directions and violently shaking half the corridor along with it. Beyond the gate was a vast, brightly lit hall resembling a chapel. It was an irregular polygon, and besides those almost trademark sculptures, the hall contained many strangely shaped control devices and projection units. All the consoles were arranged in concentric circles, forming three rings distributed layer by layer. The equipment had all been carefully decorated and designed. Although its shape clearly revealed it to be machinery, it looked more like ritual implements used only in some kind of religious ceremony. This style could be found everywhere throughout the ship, so there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it.
The hall's dome soared high overhead. Three enormous circular openings were set into the ceiling, and bright pillars of light shone down through them. They were arranged in a triangular formation at the center of the innermost ring of equipment. Dazzling data and charts floated through the pillars of light, refreshing at incredible speed even as Hao Ren entered the hall—if he was not mistaken, this should be the display interface of the ship's primary control system.
Hao Ren stayed alert in case there were automatically triggered security devices or sentinel robots here, but he reached the three enormous pillars without coming under attack. It seemed that even the security systems in the ship's core area had gone offline. He stood before the three pillars, watching the constantly refreshing characters with curiosity.
