Like most other sanctuaries of the Aberrants, the Ankatro Family's territory was hidden in a peculiar spatial rift and layered with disguises and distortions created through mysterious technology. As the most enigmatic of all the Aberrant families, the Ankatro territory was even more concealed than the Shadow Sanctuary, and only a handful of ancient families like the Walter family knew how to open it. After the incident a month ago, the people inside had completely sealed off the Ankatro Secret Realm, rendering ordinary methods of entry useless as well. Wayne Walter had to prepare some special items to help open the gate. To do so, they also had to travel to a special location—one that was, astonishingly, underground.
Wayne Walter had visited this mountain-foot town to see the Ankatro family more than once, and he knew all its hidden routes like the back of his hand. Led by the Vampire Clan Leader, Hao Ren and the others entered the town's underground sewers.
This seemingly unremarkable town possessed an unexpectedly extensive underground waterway. Its broad sewers connected the subterranean parts of the town like a maze, but a small town clearly had no need for drainage facilities on such a scale. Most of the sewers were therefore sealed off or half-dried. Hao Ren followed Wayne and Hesperis through broad tunnels that resembled subway passages. He saw circular pipes supported by permanent concrete and large steel inner shells, with dim lights embedded along both sides. The waterway in the center of the sewer had nearly dried up, while dark green moss had heavily eroded the steel and concrete structures along the railings. Judging from the lights, the place was still occasionally maintained, and its builders had certainly been human. But why would a town like this have built sewers of such a
