Since they had already explored the Central Control Station aboard the Qunluan, Hao Ren and the others found the location of this Control Center without much trouble. At least in the outer regions, the Central Control Stations of the two arks were largely identical in structure.
The Control Center was a scene of dilapidation and decay. Dust covered the ancient machinery, while various odds and ends lay scattered across the floor in disarray. This should have been the result of the artificial gravity failing time and again. Beside the main console, Hao Ren found a corpse. Unlike the Qunluan, the shelter here still maintained normal temperatures and atmospheric conditions, so the remains he found had already decayed until only a skeleton was left.
The dead man wore the same clothes as the old man aboard the Qunluan. After so many gravitational malfunctions, it was impossible to determine the position or condition in which the captain had died. Hao Ren carefully pushed the skeleton aside, then restarted the main console in front of him based on his experience. (The console key was still inserted in the machine's panel.) As expected, this place also had backup power, and the ancient control terminal was still barely functional. Amid a deep mechanical hum, lights blinked on across the console, and the other nearby equipment began operating as well.
Considering that the ark's ecosystem had continued running for the past several hundred years, some of the servo terminals should have been operating autonomously before the reactor exploded. Hao Ren now wanted to inspect those machines and find the reactor damage report and emergency response procedures. After opening the database, he quickly pulled up a structural diagram of the entire Central Control Station, which clearly marked the various areas of the massive facility.
