The Demon Hunters really did seem to be gone.
Hao Ren came up empty-handed at the places where Ryūsei and Zhao Xi worked. Although he had not seen either of them in person, he could practically confirm that the Demon Hunters had all withdrawn, and that the rumors were true. He led "Roll" home along the same route, muttering to himself the entire way. Just half a month ago, there had been no sign of anything unusual among the Demon Hunters. A little before that, he had even explored a secret realm in the Americas with Hassu and the others. Yet so little time had passed since then. What exactly had happened within the Demon Hunters?
Why had a powerful race that had brought the Mythical Era to a complete end, a superhuman group with no natural enemies on Earth, silently disappeared in a matter of days? Had some major event occurred and summoned them all away?
"Tsk, we happened to be busy with the Ark fleet's affairs recently, so we completely missed the Demon Hunters' trail," Hao Ren muttered in his mind to the Data Terminal. "Now that they're all gone, trying to investigate this is going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack."
"They couldn't have vanished into thin air. Since this was a large-scale withdrawal, they should have left traces behind," the Data Terminal said in Hao Ren's mind. "This unit recommends releasing some energy-detecting probes. The places where the Demon Hunters were active must have retained the energy fields of the Rune of Leta. Their transfer route can probably be determined."
