Background

Qi Lijing came into existence as the spiritual intelligence born from the Great Heavenly Venerate’s physical body. He adopted the name “Qi Lijing” to declare that, although his birth was tied to the Great Heavenly Venerate, he was not the same person. He cultivated the Immortal Fate Disk and the Heavenly Dao; his identity as the “Immortal Sword Master” began during his journey as a sword cultivator in the mortal realm. 1000

During his mortal-era reign, Qi Lijing became known as an “Invincible for a Lifetime.” His legacy endured through the Heavenly Sword Sect, the Immortal Sword Intent, the Nine Swords, and an ordinary iron sword that preserved his remnant soul. His teachings and schemes also left lasting consequences for sword cultivators, including the Wuliang Sword Sect and practitioners of the deliberately flawed Immortal Sword Intent. 421 852 942

When Lu Bei manifested Immortal Sword Intent, Heavenly Sword Peak reacted: the Nine Swords stirred and their elders knelt. Qi Lijing subsequently appeared through the remnant soul in the iron sword, destroyed the Immortal Sword Formation, and recognized Lu Bei’s talent and pride. After testing him, he entrusted Lu Bei with the Immortal Sword Canon and the Nine Swords, allowing him to become the new Sect Master of the Heavenly Sword Sect before dissipating. 420 421

Qi Lijing later met Lu Bei in person in the Yellow Springs Realm. He warned him of an Ancient Powerhouse dormant there, formed an alliance with him to investigate the realm, and presented him with an Iron Sword Token containing a Divine Ability for absorbing others’ Heavenly Dao insights. 972

After returning fully to the Human Realm, Qi Lijing publicly revealed Lu Bei’s hidden identities to the Heavenly Sword Sect, causing widespread turmoil. He continued to alternate between cooperation and competition with Lu Bei, joining him against larger threats while seeking opportunities to surpass him. 978 1010 1019

Following the Investiture of the Gods and the creation of the Three Thousand Worlds, Qi Lijing became the Gouchen Shanggong Heavenly Emperor Great Emperor, one of the Four Imperials. 1021

Qi Lijing has a dignified, imposing presence, with sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes. Though he often wears a smile, his bearing remains cold and detached, giving observers the impression of a deity standing above the world. 972
