Background / History

Tsunade is the Senju Clan's “Princess,” but she left Konoha and abandoned both combat and healing after witnessing countless battlefield deaths, including those of her younger brother and lover. The resulting hemophobia left her unable to face blood or fulfill the medical ideal she once held. 47 62

Senju Gō forcibly confronts her over the Senju Clan's decline and the experiments Danzō conducted on high-chakra Senju members. Although Tsunade initially refuses to return, guilt over having left her clan behind drives her to accept responsibility and travel back to Konoha. 47 48

Upon returning, Tsunade publicly demands accountability for the Senju victims. Hiruzen Sarutobi admits his failure to protect the clan and supports her establishment of the New Senju Clan, with Tsunade accepting its leadership. 49

Personality

Tsunade initially avoids Konoha, warfare, and leadership because of her hemophobia and unresolved grief. She considers herself irresponsible for having abandoned the Senju and regards her decision to stop healing others as immature. 48 62

Despite this self-reproach, she is blunt, fiercely proud, and deeply protective of those she considers hers.
