Dream Reappears
It was still a land everywhere steeped in primordial aura. Massive ridges crisscrossed the ground like the spines of dragons. Looking upward, he saw clouds and mist swirling around towering peaks that pierced the heavens.
They appeared and vanished amid the haze, occasionally reflecting a cold white light, as if sharp Sword Qi stretched across heaven and earth. That aura of unstoppable destruction, of nothing in the world being able to withstand it, sent chills through anyone who looked upon it.
Although Chen Yun had been here before, he was still deeply shaken by the sight.
Yet this time, Chen Yun clearly sensed something different. It was as if he could distinctly feel the energy permeating heaven and earth. This marvelous sensation was something he had been unable to experience during his first visit.
Could it be because that immense energy within my body, which had just awakened, is the reason? Chen Yun wondered inwardly.
"Roar!" A dragon's roar that shook heaven and earth rang out, and Chen Yun's entire body jolted. That voice was far too familiar. Wasn't it the roar of the Azure Dragon he had seen last time?
Following the sound with his gaze, he indeed saw a hundred-zhang-long Azure Dragon radiating dazzling light. Four black chains bound its body, and dim black light reflected from them. Mysterious, profound characters flowed across their surfaces, giving off a soul-stealing sensation, as if merely looking at them would cause one's soul to be sucked out in an instant. They were truly terrifying.
The ends of the four chains connected to the high sky in the southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest. Within the clouds, four enormous, hazy black shadows—each nearly a hundred meters tall—could be seen standing there. Powerful energy, impossible to imagine, constantly erupted from those shadows and traveled down along the black chains toward the Azure Dragon thrashing below. Each collision of energy forced the Azure Dragon to let out a mournful cry, while a rain of blood scattered across the entire sky, as if the heavens themselves were grieving.
The entire sky trembled with it. Spatial ripples spread outward, and a massive tornado storm rapidly expanded from the Azure Dragon as its center, striking toward the four enormous black shadows high above.
"Hmph..." A muffled groan immediately came from the high sky, followed by a spray of chaotic-colored liquid raining down in all directions.
"Hmph! I never imagined this mixed-blood creature in its complete form would be so powerful! If he hadn't carelessly been trapped by my clan's Supreme Treasure, the Heaven-Trapping Chains, perhaps the few of us really wouldn't have been able to do anything to him!"
"Indeed!... What a pity..." another aged, cold voice rang out.
Chen Yun stared blankly at everything before him, his heart already filled with overwhelming sorrow. The Azure Dragon seemed to share some intimate connection with him, sending waves of familiar fluctuations through him. What was going on? Chen Yun forcibly suppressed the grief in his heart and wondered in confusion.
"Roar! Roar! Roar!..." Suddenly, wave after wave of unwilling, unyielding dragon roars rang out, making anyone who heard them feel the desolation of a hero at the end of his road.
The grief in Chen Yun's heart became even more impossible to suppress. It was as if he were about to lose something of utmost importance.
Sure enough, a vast energy, so surging that it seemed capable of swallowing heaven and earth, suddenly swept out from the Azure Dragon. The surrounding space could no longer withstand that tremendous pressure, and it shattered one piece after another.
In an instant, spatial black holes formed everywhere. Strange, vast fluctuations came from within them, causing even the four black chains binding the Azure Dragon to strain beyond their limits. Repeated crack, crack sounds came from them.
A low, furious curse rang out from the high sky, followed by four even more enormous waves of energy descending.
"Heaven-Trapping Chains! Nine Heavens and Ten Earths! Seal!" Four sinister, low incantations rang out.
In an instant, the entire world came to a halt. The Azure Dragon, the black holes—even they slowly vanished from sight. Across heaven and earth, only the terrifying incantation, like demonic music, continued to reverberate.
Chen Yun's soul also solidified in that instant. A chill like the cold of the Nine Hells caused his consciousness to fall into a momentary chaos.
"Hm?" A puzzled voice came from high above.
Immediately afterward, a sinister gaze shot toward him. Chen Yun jolted, his consciousness awakening from the chaos, but then he felt a tremor run through him. His soul shook without pause, like a wisp of flame in the wind, as if it could be extinguished at any moment.
Just as Chen Yun was about to reach his limit, a high-pitched dragon roar filled with determination rang out. Heaven and earth were violently shaken, and that sinister gaze hurriedly shifted away.
In his dazed state, Chen Yun seemed to hear a tremendous explosion. The next moment, he was sucked into a spatial vortex.
Inside the vortex was a spatial passageway. Its walls were silver, and incomplete scenes flickered across them. In a daze, Chen Yun seemed to see blood raining across the sky and severed limbs covering the ground.
A dazzlingly beautiful Vermilion Bird had its wings forcibly torn off.
A ### resembling a primordial mountain had been smashed in two.
A hundred-zhang-long, pitch-black turtle had its shell smashed apart.
Everywhere, cries of slaughter rang out... Blood was everywhere, whether in the sky or across the earth. The gruesome scene filled even the muddled Chen Yun with a wave of desolation.
Incomplete scenes flashed rapidly before Chen Yun's eyes. As for what they contained, Chen Yun no longer knew. His soul had suffered severe damage, and he had fallen into utter chaos, losing consciousness.
At the end of the passageway was a massive vortex. A tremendous suction force came from it, and Chen Yun's soul instantly transformed into a streak of light and vanished inside...
The spatial passageway remained utterly silent, as if it had existed since time immemorial. Silver light transformed into mysterious, profound runes that twisted across its surface. The enormous vortex spun rapidly without a sound, causing folds to appear in the surrounding space. Through those folds, it seemed that the living beings of countless worlds could be seen, screaming incessantly and desperately struggling against the mysteriously circulating laws of heaven and earth.
