Background
Wu Xin does not know his origins. He neither ages nor dies, but loses most of his memories every hundred years during a Centennial Slumber. His body is not human in the ordinary sense: it contains no organs or physical heart, despite appearing outwardly normal. 107 138 203
Before the events in Wen County, Wu Xin had accumulated martial skill, exorcism experience, and several long-lived supernatural companions. His unusual blood is highly dangerous to many ghosts, demons, and Reincarnators, making him both a powerful exorcist and the target of the Lord God Space mission to find his “heart.” 106 107 189
Appearance
Wu Xin is a handsome young man with short hair and a notably pale complexion. Though often treated as a monk or mage, his appearance gives little indication that he is an immortal, organless being. 157 203
- Short-haired and pale-faced. 157
- Often carries daggers for close combat and blood-based exorcism. 186 199
- His body can be catastrophically damaged or dismembered without permanently killing him. 107 138 139
Personality
Wu Xin is observant and cautious, able to sense danger before an ambush and prepare himself despite lacking full knowledge of the threat. 137 He can be mercenary when accepting exorcism work, but his willingness to spare a Wraith is rooted in misplaced compassion rather than indifference to human life. 133 134
He is fiercely protective of those he considers friends. He repeatedly risks himself for Gu Xuanwu, Li Yueya, Bai Liuli, and Da Bai, even agreeing to enter his Centennial Slumber under Gu Sheng's control in exchange for his companions' safety. 186 196 200 203 Wu Xin also retains a dry, teasing humor, particularly when dealing with Chuchenzi and Gu Xuanwu. 191
Abilities & Skills
Undying Physiology
Wu Xin possesses an immortal body with exceptional regeneration and survival capacity.
- Does not age or die through ordinary injury. 107
- Can regenerate after injuries as severe as having his head split apart. 107
- Survived being bisected, stabbed repeatedly, and mauled by Wu You. 138 139
- Has no physical organs or heart within his chest cavity. 138 203
- May survive by shifting his consciousness into a smaller surviving portion of his body while the remaining flesh decays. 203
- His immortality is offset by a Centennial Slumber that erases most of his memories. 107 203
Blood of Exorcism
Wu Xin's blood has powerful corrosive and suppressive effects against many supernatural entities.
- Injures Reincarnators who come into direct contact with it, including the werewolf Wu You. 138 139
- Can destroy ghostly and demonic energy, as shown when he extinguishes Shirakawa Rin's black-energy attack. 186
- Is especially dangerous to Yue Qiluo and her Yin-type Nascent Soul. 157 189 730
- Can stabilize Li Yueya after she is infected with Wolf Blood Toxin. 196
- Was applied to bullets during the Qingyun Temple battle, making them effective against supernatural enemies. 193 194
- Is ineffective against ordinary humans and cannot harm Gu Sheng. 196 725
- Does not affect every supernatural object; it fails to control the possessed knife encountered in Shanghai. 724
- Is dangerous to Bai Liuli's unstable soul-body. 725
Martial Combat
Wu Xin is an experienced close-quarters fighter who relies on agility, daggers, and a readiness to wound himself when necessary.
- Fought while severely injured during Wu You's ambush and drove him away by throwing his own flesh and blood. 139
- Protected Gu Xuanwu from Shirakawa Rin's summoned black-energy attack. 186
- Recovered enough combat ability to cut through groups of armed samurai while advancing toward Bai Liuli. 199
- Uses self-inflicted bleeding offensively, including spraying blood from a cut artery to incapacitate Ryoko. 199
- Can be overwhelmed by superior physical force, large numbers, or enemies immune to his blood. 139 201 725
Exorcism and Talismans
Wu Xin performs exorcisms and produces talismans using objects infused with his blood.
- Exorcised the Wraith in the Gu Residence after descending into its well. 134
- Creates jade-pendant talismans by soaking jade in his blood; the pendants preserve some of its supernatural effect. 157
- His blood-infused talismans can destroy Yue Qiluo's dharma body and restrain her. 157 730
- Maintained a prosperous fortune-telling shop in Wen County. 135
- Was asked to select an auspicious wedding date for Gu Sheng and Yue Qiluo. 157
