Looking at the few simple lines of text in the report, Minister Shen could not help speaking.

His tone carried barely restrained excitement, along with disbelief and bewilderment.

But Professor Bai gently raised a hand and stopped him.

"I know this report sounds bizarre, but before questioning it, perhaps we should look at the details first."

As he spoke, he gestured to Chen Jing.

Chen Jing understood. She picked up the file bag and gently tipped it over, spilling out several cassette tapes.

These were materials attached to the final report, intended either as explanations or evidence.

She rummaged through them and took out one of the tapes.

She went to the video player, inserted the tape, and pressed several buttons. The tape began playing automatically.

Professor Bai, Minister Shen, and Mr. Su also restrained their excitement and turned to look.

A sealed laboratory appeared on the television screen.

The laboratory was extremely simply furnished. Apart from several cameras, there was only a stand in the very center, with an apple on top.

Every camera was aimed at the apple.

The image did not move at all. Only the numbers in the corner kept changing, showing that this was not a still image.

After an unknown amount of time, just as Mr. Su was hesitating over whether to ask Chen Jing to fast-forward, the image suddenly began flickering.

It was as though the image had been subjected to tremendous electromagnetic interference. It kept jumping before suddenly transforming into countless warped, tangled lines.

Two seconds later, the noise reached its peak, and then the image suddenly returned to normal.

It was still the same scene, but they saw that the apple in the camera's field of view had vanished...

"What happened?"

Mr. Su and Minister Shen both froze
