Lu Xin took paid investigations to fund his old building’s renovation and uncovered a memory-altering Love Sticky Note that led him to a fugitive collecting spirits. After defeating the fugitive and starting the renovation, he accepted Dracula’s paid invitation to a gathering at Hell’s Gate and traveled toward Kindling City.

• Professor Bai arranged for Qinggang to cover ninety percent of Lu Xin’s renovation materials, and Lu Xin took private investigation jobs to raise his share.
• Lu Xin resolved several supposed hauntings as ordinary incidents before discovering that Chen Wei’s relationship with Cao Ye involved altered memories.
• Lu Xin interrogated Cao Ye and learned that he had used a Love Sticky Note to replace Chen Wei’s memories of Zhang Weiyu with memories of himself.
• Lu Xin pursued the shop’s fugitive with Kid’s help, and the fugitive entered Lu Xin’s memories before the old building’s inhabitants tore him apart and seized his hourglass.
• Lu Xin learned that Cao Ye had died and Zhang Weiyu had been wounded protecting Chen Wei, then recovered the hourglass from room 103.
• Professor Bai authorized the renovation, and Han Bing told Lu Xin that the memory-type pollution source had collected complete spirits for a soul trade pointing toward hell.

Lu Xin broke through Kindling’s defenses, reunited with Dracula and other outsiders, and joined Xia Chong’s mission to investigate Hell. Beneath the Kindling Building, they discovered the company was harvesting human spirits to prepare Hell’s Gate.

• Lu Xin forced his way through Kindling’s checkpoints, met Dracula, and became caught up in a citywide pursuit involving Black Box and Kindling forces.
• As Kindling City’s Level 1 alarm began, Lu Xin encountered apparitions of the dead and fought a procession of black-clad entities that overwhelmed his family’s powers.
• Lu Xin refused his father’s proposal to draw on the city’s sleeping residents, and the Negative Zero Unit rescued him before Xia Chong brought him to her team.
• Xia Chong explained the team’s mission to find Hell’s entrance, and she and Lu Xin entered the abyss to investigate the Kindling Building.
• Lu Xin subdued the creature guarding the building and persuaded Xia Chong to contract with it, allowing them to enter the building through the abyss.
• Lu Xin answered a call from Mom, who directed him and Xia Chong to Underground Level Eighteen, where they overheard the Hell Designer discuss preparing Hell’s Gate with one hundred million mental entities.
• Lu Xin and Xia Chong entered the control room and saw countless people connected to a Mechanical Tree as the Hell Designer explained that Kindling extracted human spirits for spiritual-power production.

Lu Xin found Number Two trapped in God's Nightmare and promised to save him before escaping into a citywide crisis orchestrated by the Hell Designer. As Sister's web and Father's shadow disrupted Kindling City's sacrifice, Lu Xin reached the living mental embryo above the stadium and identified it as the entrance to Hell.

• Lu Xin fought the black-robed priests with Xia Chong, discovered Number Two sealed inside the Mechanical Tree, and escaped Kindling’s exploding base into God's Nightmare.
• Number Two explained how the voice had manipulated him into creating True Hometown, while Lu Xin refused to kill him and promised to bring him back to Qinggang.
• Lu Xin tore open an exit from God's Nightmare and escaped with Xia Chong, Old Wang, Night Owl, and Hydra as Kindling City was engulfed by Pollution.
• Hell Designer prepared Kindling’s final ritual while believers and strange entities spread chaos across the city under the Crimson Moon.
• Lu Xin and his companions joined the effort to stop the sacrifice, while Xia Chong investigated Kindling’s plans and the others disrupted gatherings and battles across the city.
• Lu Xin confronted the Guard Department, then used Sister’s human spiderweb to obstruct Kindling’s forces and slow the citywide chaos.

Lu Xin stopped Kindling’s attempt to open a passage to Hell, confronted Staff Hider, and returned to Qinggang. There he reunited with Xu Jing, who invited him to witness the Midnight Court’s judgment of General Koyaman.

• Lu Xin and his allies battled the Number Two copies and Kindling’s forces as the Hell Embryo gestated above the stadium.
• Lu Xin cut into the Hell Embryo, but the Pale Hand tried to steal his black particles until Mom intervened and trapped its power in his hand.
• Lu Xin used seven parasitic items to reach Staff Hider and punched him three times, while Number Two helped him break through the chains.
• The forces gathered in Kindling City captured the Hell Designer, and Lu Xin later joined the Crimson Moon Club’s celebration after Night Owl’s bombs exploded.
• Mom, Black Queen, Dr. An, and Seven argued over Staff Hider, the Old Director, and the Research Institute’s conflict with the Ultimates.
• Lu Xin returned to Qinggang and found Xu Jing teaching at the orphanage, where Xu Jing greeted him as Number Nine.
• Xu Jing invited Lu Xin to accompany him on a Midnight Court assignment and explained that General Koyaman had murdered his predecessor’s family.
