Seeing George Stacy's eyes light up with vigor, Black Super knew he did not need to keep plotting things out for him.
A man who had risen to police commissioner was not someone who merely knew how to trade gunfire with street punks. Without political sense, he could not survive in an office, much less deal with other official organizations. How could he possibly sit in that position?
As long as they had not risen through elections, anyone who had steadily climbed the ranks within the system had not done so through brute force alone. That had been true of the Thaddeus General Ross Henry had encountered, and it was true of the George Stacy before him.
Still, Old George was a powerful ally, and Black Super could not simply watch him take the wrong path. He offered one more reminder. "The person best suited to announce these matters is Mike Bloomberg, not you."
"You mean the Mayor of New York City?"
"Of course. He's Jewish, he comes from business, and he dares to take risks. He also faces electoral pressure. Do you want to keep climbing? If so, you can only become his challenger."
The hint was clear enough. Knowing that he needed political allies rather than fighting alone, George Stacy nodded. "He definitely won't dislike such a generous gift. But what about you? What do you want?"
...I have people I want to protect too. Black Super had initially wanted to reply, "What the hell does that have to do with you?" but he ultimately answered seriously.
The problem with vampires was not that they were powerful, but that they were like cockroaches: impossible to wipe out. Even if he could kill one with each punch, a massacre on that scale would inevitably expose him to the world.
