"I saw John. Your son. Alive—probably."
"Okay, I do care about that. But it isn't good news. If you're willing to tell me, you'll have my gratitude. But if you want a desk outside, no chance!"
At Harry Osborn's earlier press conference about the battle at the high-rise construction site, he had already mentioned that John Jameson was still alive. So J. Jonah Jameson did not press for proof that his son was alive. All he wanted was the boy's whereabouts.
But outwardly, J. Jonah Jameson showed no excitement. He merely took a deeper puff of his cigar, making it clear that he was far from as calm as he appeared, as though news were all that mattered to him.
