At this point, everyone's movements became noticeably more restrained. Even the Symbiotes originally under Riot's command seemed to be going through the motions, stealing glances at their motionless leader.
Riot shouted fiercely to hide his weakness. "What are you doubting? Do you think there's any other way out now? Fight!"
If Riot had not shouted that and had instead rushed forward to beat Venom senseless, perhaps all the Symbiotes would have believed him. But Riot did not move. He kept urging others to step up instead. They had not known each other for just a day or two; how could they not know their leader's temperament?
There were many reasons morale could collapse, but the turning point came when a white humanoid Symbiote passed Spider-Woman, whom it should have been fighting, and began fleeing outside.
None of the Symbiotes coordinated with one another, yet they almost all broke away from the fight at the same time and scattered in flight. They still fled separately rather than gathering together.

Everyone held rifles and surrounded them with fairly standard tactical movements. But even more conspicuous were the special personnel walking behind the assault teams, carrying
