Speculation on the source of the zombies

"During the intense metabolic process, many cells lose their original functions. Consequently, internal organs are also damaged to varying degrees, with most of their functions lost."

The circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems are almost completely dysfunctional. However, the nervous system is unusually active, with a large amount of bioelectricity still stimulating the remaining cells and causing them to react.

"Because the whole body is undergoing metabolism, it consumes a lot of energy. This drives the body to have a strong instinctive desire to eat in order to replenish the energy consumed."

"But their digestive system has stopped functioning, so they will be perpetually starving. Is the reason they bite people but not other corpses due to the influence of their bioelectric magnetic field?"

In the second autopsy, Spider-Man shared his findings and speculations. However, the final question remained unanswered.

It's already quite remarkable that such a test result report could be produced in such a short time using existing instruments. Further in-depth information will likely require more time and testing.

For example, research could explore how Zombies, despite having impaired vision, smell, and hearing, can accurately distinguish between other Zombies and living people solely through the magnetic field of bioelectricity, and then only bite the latter.

Jean Grey remarked, "I never expected you to have such an obscure instrument as the Superconducting Quantum Interference Device. Without it, we wouldn't even be able to detect bioelectricity or the human body's magnetic field."

Green Arrow Duck also looked at the full-body scan images of the Zombies on the computer screen.

It was similar to what the Mecha Reconnaissance System had observed, but to be more specific, only the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, and spine of the Zombies exhibited abnormal activity levels. The other organs, including the brain, were completely decayed.

However, this examination result also made Green Arrow Duck suspicious of something. In a Zombies apocalypse future, how exactly do these creatures, who are no different from the Deadman, evade microbial decomposition and keep their corpses from decaying for years?

Waterlogged Corpse are actually quite similar to mummies, except they aren't bandaged. The former are preserved by being submerged in water to prevent air from being decomposed by microorganisms; the latter are formed under extremely dry conditions. But Zombies in normal environments don't have these two conditions, so how do they maintain their incorruptibility? It's impossible that their body cells would produce formaldehyde after being infected with a virus.

Clearly, based on the observed physiological characteristics of Zombies, once the core system of the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, and spine collapses, complete death will ensue. Although these parts of Zombies are active, there is obviously no part that is immune to decay.

In other words, under normal circumstances, the Zombies apocalypse cannot last very long. Within a few years, the Zombies on the surface will be completely decomposed by microorganisms. It will be easier to survive the future than a nuclear disaster wasteland.

However, there was no rush to find an answer to this matter. The Fully Automatic Molecular Biology Analyzer, which took longer to process, had also produced its results. Everyone quickly huddled together in front of the not-so-large computer screen to look at the analysis results.

Quite unusual, Jean Grey spoke before Spider-Man- Man could. "So the pathogens of our infectious diseases are actually viruses, no wonder they're so contagious. Therefore, we can simply abandon conventional treatments like antibacterial drugs and antibiotics."

Spider-Man, however, found the virus test results somewhat... familiar. "Is this Vampire Virus?"

Green Arrow Duck was considered an authority on this, even though others weren't sure. Nevertheless, he answered Spider-Man's question, "It seems this is indeed the Vampire Virus. However, it's a mutation; it appears to have evolved to the point where it's significantly different from the original virus."

"So today's events are a result of the Vampires rampage? Those Monster... Zombies are actually mutated Vampires?"

Green Arrow Duck spoke about what he knew, "Actually, after Vampires drains a living person dry, the abandoned corpse may come back to life if it is infected with the Vampire Virus."

"However, in this state, such people are not considered Vampires. This is because their characteristics are usually festering skin, retaining human consciousness but losing their rationality, and being extremely bloodthirsty."

"However, in appearance, they are indeed similar to these Zombies Monster. They are all equally ugly, and their bodies continue to rot. The only difference is that you can talk to them. These Zombies Monster can't even have the most basic conversation."

Spider-Man asked, "How do you know all this?" "I spent some time on the West Coast dealing with Vampires. I not only witnessed it firsthand, but I also learned a lot from the Vampires hunters I worked with," Green Arrow Duck recounted his experience working with Blade and Whistler in Los Angeles.

Jean Grey had previously spoken with Betty Thaddeus Ross and knew the reason for the U.S. military's presence here, as well as the Vampires outbreak in various places. She raised a question, "Could this be Vampires Plague deliberately created by the Vampires?"

"I don't know." Green Arrow Duck had no evidence of any connection between the Zombies and Umbrella, so he remained tight-lipped.

The three wanted to continue their discussion when Professor X emerged from the Blackbird Jet, controlling his wheelchair. "Jean, I might need your help. Scott contacted me saying he brought back something very special... something. I need you to use your telekinesis to bring it up."

"Okay, Professor." Just as Jean Grey was about to move, Green Arrow Duck had already seen what Professor X and Cyclops didn't know how to define.

Green Arrow Duck volunteered, "I'll carry it. My Mecha can fly and isn't afraid of normal attacks."

Professor X did not refuse Green Arrow Duck's assistance, but he was also worried whether Jean Grey's telekinesis alone could safely move the goods to the top of a building.

As Green Arrow Duck leaped down from the edge of the sky, he saw Colossus grabbing a Licker. The skull was gone, and the exposed brain was so conspicuous that it was hard to mistake it for a real one.

Although its size is similar to that of an average adult, its limbs are much thicker and it has obvious sharp claws. In addition, its muscle tissue is visibly quite developed, and it has a long tongue similar to that of an anteater, which is constantly swinging out of its mouth.

The person holding it is the Mutants Colossus, Mutants possesses both strength and defense. Otherwise, an ordinary person, let alone catching the Licker, would likely be pounced on and bitten to death just by getting close to it.

Green Arrow Duck stepped forward. "Give it to me. I'm here to help carry it."

"Is that alright, friend? That Monster is incredibly strong. It took us a lot of effort to catch it," Colossus said hesitantly. "What If...? you're worried, I can take you and the Monster up to the sky together. That way you'll save time climbing the stairs. Is that alright?"

Green Arrow Duck didn't even bother with the handover; he just pulled Colossus and Licker up together.

Colossus was still somewhat hesitant, but he nodded in agreement. At most, he would just have to remember to hold onto the Duck Plushie tightly when he lost his grip and was thrown back to the ground, so it wouldn't run away.

However, the flight capability of the Gravity System is different from the propulsion of the Rocket Propulsion System, and the two are difficult to compare. Moving heavy objects in the air is not difficult for Green Arrow Duck as long as the weight is within ten tons.

So Green Arrow Duck immediately carried Colossus and Licker onto the building where their temporary base was located.

Unable to contain his curiosity and having waited patiently, Spider-Man saw the strange Monster and couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh my god, this thing is so ugly!"
