Battle in the streets
Even if the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants, these old rivals, don't want to fight, the newly joined U.S. military will help them make up their minds.
They greeted each other with a barrage of shots, both enthusiastic and decisive, leaving Professor X scrambling to act as a peacemaker. The U.S. military at this time was incredibly arrogant, a trait that was on full display in this situation.
Moreover, some of the people who came later brought equipment to deal with Mutants, especially plastic bullets and plastic rifles that Square Magneto couldn't control.
Magneto is no pushover who will stand his ground. In certain circumstances, he might even be helpless against plastic bullets.
However, on ordinary streets, Metallica that can be affected by magnetism are readily available. It's as if the whole world is his ally; this is his home turf. To deal with the heavily armed U.S. military, the battle-hardened Magneto has countless ways to defeat his enemy.
Magneto casually controlled a car parked on the side of the road, blocking all the soldiers' field of fire. This was only because Magneto had no intention of killing them; otherwise, the car would have smashed into the soldiers, seriously injuring them if not killing them.
His attitude was also that of Red Lotus and Selene; they came to save their fellow Mutants, not to fight the U.S. military to the death.
Not to mention the burden of Genosha Island behind them, making it impossible for them to act solely based on personal likes and dislikes. Killing all these U.S. military would be easy, but defending their last Mutants homeland afterwards would be difficult.
Red Lotus, who has the ancestry of the island natives of the South Pacific, is not only big, but her long braid can also suddenly grow very long and then swing like a whip.
Although it cannot be as flexible as an octopus's tentacles, it is incredibly strong; an ordinary person would be sent flying if hit by it.
If it happens to hit the trajectory of a bullet, the bullet can be deflected.
Selene's tactics seemed much simpler, as he only used a dagger to fight. However, he made full use of his Mind Stone abilities, not trying to completely control others, but rather making the soldiers unknowingly move their guns away from him.
Simply put, even if he stood still, and the United States soldiers assumed they were aiming their guns, the bullets would only whiz past him. This is because, implicitly, his position wasn't actually where the soldiers were aiming.
However, Selene did not attack the soldiers, only occasionally defending against close-range enemies. He had a more important task: controlling the elusive and unpredictable Nightcrawler on the battlefield.
Because while Square Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants retaliating against the U.S. military, the X- X-Men were also taking action. However, their aim was not to defeat the enemy, but rather to hinder Square Magneto and his group from causing greater damage, especially to the U.S. military soldiers.
Cyclops and Storm need no introduction, not even Professor X's command. The moment Magneto made a move, they acted as if on cue.
Unlike the previous two, Nightcrawler doesn't have the courage to engage in close combat. His strength lies in using his teleportation ability to quickly support and deploy combat forces. Especially for Professor X, who is disabled, he is almost unable to move around in complex terrain environments using only his wheelchair.
Selene's ability effectively caused Nightcrawler to appear at different locations during his teleportation. Furthermore, Nightcrawler's ability required physical contact to activate with his companions, which indirectly limited his ability to appear and disappear on the battlefield with the X-Men.
What If...? this is all the combat power both sides have, then the X- X-Men plus the U.S. military should have a slight advantage over the Brotherhood of Mutants.
However, in this sudden battle, Beast Hank clearly sided with Square Magneto. Whether it was Cyclops or Storm, when they encountered this mentor-student and friend figure, they would always unconsciously hold back and then get knocked away.
On the one hand, the Beast didn't have as many concerns as the two little guys.
Secondly, neither Cyclops nor Storm can damage the tough Beast without using their ultimate abilities, but using their ultimates risks excessive damage. With their abilities restricted, being knocked away by the Beast at close range is the only outcome.
Then the Clown-Sup was sitting on the railing, a hot dog in each hand, taking bites from the left and right. Cyclops finally couldn't resist and used his Optic Blast to knock away Beast, preparing to join forces with the U.S. military soldiers to surround Magneto.
Unfortunately, Magneto is completely immune to group attacks, simply raised his hand and destroyed the underground metal pipes indiscriminately.
Pulling them all out would cause trouble for people on the ground.
No one could ignore the threat beneath their feet and fire their guns without a second thought; some even got entangled in what appeared to be gas pipes or some other kind of conduit.
Even those who refused to give up and wanted to continue firing had all their weapons stripped from their hands and bodies by Magneto. They were naturally powerless to fight the battle that followed.
Those wielding plastic weapons were targeted even more severely. Pipes extending from underground crawled up like snakes, not only entangled them but also immobilized them.
This move also prevented Professor X from taking control of his wheelchair. He had no choice but to continue his mental battle with Selene.
As an immortal witch and Mutants, Selene's powers are greatly diminished due to a magical slump. However, the fact that Professor X has been unable to help Nightcrawler escape the influence of Selene's Mind Stone abilities still testifies to her immense strength.
Of course, this is also related to Professor X's overconfidence; whenever he sees his own people in danger, he chooses to directly stop the opponent. He spends too much energy on extraneous matters.
The damaged ground, of course, did not hinder Square Magneto's actions. He controlled the magnetic material on the soles of his shoes, making himself float and head towards the house where Jean was, according to the intelligence.
The Beast that had been blasted away returned to the battlefield at that moment. It used the roofs of cars on the road as stepping stones to leap forward.
Unlike United States soldiers, who are trapped and unable to move, Cyclops activated his goggles, looked down, and fired a shot around himself, instantly melting the cables that were entangled around him.
He was about to activate his eye mask and use Optic Blast to blast Square Magneto, who was floating in the air, down. But a Beast's pounce interrupted Cyclops's attack.
Enraged, Cyclops didn't care who was in front of him. He unleashed a Optic Blast that sent the Beast flying!
However, just as Cyclops was being held back, Square Magneto pulled a subway train out of the ground and blocked the entrance to Jean's apartment, preventing others from entering and interfering. He then entered the apartment through the train.
Meanwhile, the Clown-Sup is showing off a box of evil pizza sprinkled with pineapple slices, while Otaku happy water.
Upon seeing the classic scene from the movie, he clapped excitedly and cheered loudly. However, he sprayed food he hadn't swallowed all over the place, making it look a bit messy.
The Beast, Cyclops away by Cyclops, landed right next to Clown-Sup. He stared dumbfounded at the outside helper appointed by Raven, suddenly feeling a sense of absurdity about what the other party had come for.
