Single-Pilot Aircraft
The Clown-Sup saved the Beast from disaster. And this, like some kind of signal, caused the Diberians had boarded the train to jump off.
The three fighting on the roof of the carriage were still clueless about what was happening, as were the people inside. Only Magneto of countless battles, knew what this was all about. He shouted, "Fire! Move closer to me!"
Selene immediately relayed Square Magneto's message to all Mutants and any surviving soldiers nearby.
Even Cyclops and Storm, who had been displaying their prowess on the roof of the carriage, jumped back inside because their abilities offered little in the way of effective defense. As for Crimson Red Lotus, he was the first to run.
Magneto collected all the rifles, both those that missed and those that didn't, and piled them up densely to form a shield wall. He then continued to tear at the nearby sheet metal to increase the thickness of the shield.
The next instant, a barrage of plasma cannon fire came from one side of the train!
The Diberians single-person assault boats finally took advantage of their superior technology compared to Earth, bombarding the rear of the train from the air!
The train's armor was reinforced to protect prisoners and prevent Mutants from attempting to break them off. However, it proved no match for the firepower of the DeBerry raider.
Even Magneto's barely erected shield couldn't withstand much of the plasma cannon's attack. The shield needed to be continuously reinforced to repair the damaged sections and maintain its defensive effectiveness.
The Clown-Sup, used as a human shield by the Beast, looked helplessly at Magneto and said, "Hmm, should I remind you? This is a high-temperature plasma cannon that combines massive electrical energy. It has no physical form, and theoretically, it can be deflected using a magnetic field."
Magneto understood immediately. He changed his defensive strategy, no longer controlling metal to form a shield, but instead creating an invisible, powerful magnetic field.
Once the plasma cannon comes into contact with the edge of Square Magneto's magnetic field, it will accelerate instantly, but its direction will change, and it will shoot in other places.
This method undoubtedly saves a lot of effort, and you don't have to worry about a lack of materials.
It's fair to say that if the weapons used by the Diberians were any other form of high-tech invention, they wouldn't have been so easily countered. But plasma cannons just happen to fall under Square Magneto's jurisdiction.
With Square Magneto as their strongest shield, and thanks to the combined efforts of both sides in dismantling the train's metal panels during the previous battle, they now have a very wide field of vision, except for the train platform, which remains largely intact.
Cyclops and Storm two-person drones, resumed their long-range bird-shooting offensive. However, at night, their accuracy and effectiveness were not very good against the alien spacecraft.
Meanwhile, Clown-Sup, who was also hiding behind the magnetic shield, took out a lollipop that he had concealed somewhere and stuffed it into his mouth. He mumbled something incoherently, such as low blood sugar, dizziness, or lack of energy.
The Nightcrawler cried out in fear, "Haven't those aliens realized their attacks aren't working? Why aren't they retreating?"
Although the Beast had departed from human form, his intelligence remained sharp. He immediately grasped the enemy's intentions upon assessing the situation and stated, "We're under pressure. The plasma cannons are still effective against the rest of the train."
"They only resorted to bombing us with aircraft because they were certain that Qin was not in the latter half of the train. Whether they bombed us or separated us from the train ahead, it can be considered a tactical success."
"So Erik, we can't stay here. We have to move forward and defend the carriage where Jyn is. What If...? we get cut off, it will be almost impossible to catch up with the train."
Magneto made a decisive decision, saying only one word, "Go!" The group began to move, including the surviving United States soldiers.
Even the passageway doors between the trains weren't opened by anyone. The Cyclops simply blasted them open, and then everyone filed in.
Whenever they abandoned a train car, that car would be destroyed by concentrated artillery fire. It wasn't that the aliens were being cooperative; rather, the cars, without Magneto's magnetic shield, couldn't withstand the onslaught of concentrated fire.
The U.S. military soldiers who gathered along the way were among the most panicked. They were either supporting their unconscious comrades or clutching completely useless rifles, just to find some peace of mind.
Whether the enemy is Mutants or an alien is irrelevant at this point. If they still can't tell, then they've wasted their eyes and brains.
When the group entered a relatively intact carriage, it seemed that the alien attack had ended only in the previous carriage.
Because it was nighttime and they were on a speeding train, most people couldn't see any trace of the ceasefire alien spacecraft and assumed they had left.
But the Clown-Sup could clearly see that more than a dozen shuttle-shaped, fully-covered flying vehicles were flying alongside the train. Their design was completely different from the flying Motorcycle used by the invading Chitauri during the Battle of New York.
It is precisely because of its relatively small size that there are not many types of weapons to choose from, which is why it uses plasma cannons to attack from beginning to end.
The reason they stopped attacking was simple: everyone had retreated to the carriage closest to Jean Grey. The aliens probably couldn't guarantee their aim would be surgical, blasting everyone else away without harming Jean.
Of course, the alien spacecraft ceasing their attack doesn't mean their operation has stopped. It only means that another wave of attacks is brewing.
Everyone understood this and began making preparations.
A soldier opened the passageway door, and sure enough, the next carriage was where Jean Grey was being held. Apart from Professor X, only a few soldiers remained to assist in the defense. The moment the door opened, they were startled and almost fired a burst of bullets.
And the section they were in was specifically for transporting weapons. All the firearms were already loaded with live ammunition.
They were neatly arranged on the gun cabinets on both sides, numbering nearly a hundred.
The Mutants and soldiers, who were not good at close combat, switched to firearms. Unfortunately, the weapons on the train were mainly designed for Mutants and were not very effective against aliens, but they didn't have a better option.
There were two heavy machine guns, with ammunition boxes hanging to the side. But these things weren't for individual use; without them mounted on supports, not many people could handle and fire them properly. So the only two effective weapons remained on weapon racks.
Magneto, seeing that everyone was almost ready, instructed, "All of you, move to the next carriage and help with the defense. Tell Charles to speed up and wake Jean. Then, figure out a way to escape."
Everyone readily complied and entered the last guard car. However, Magneto grabbed the Clown-Sup collar, who was hiding in the crowd and preparing to sneak into another car, and said to him, "You're staying here with me."
