Retreating Aboard the Ship

The Brotherhood of Mutants had raided an illegal Mutant laboratory. These people really treated themselves like terrorists, though. They had not bothered to take photos or collect the laboratory's records for use in exposing the people behind it later.

Or perhaps the Brotherhood of Mutants' reputation was already so foul that even presenting such evidence would be seen as malicious slander, so there was no point going to the trouble.

Fortunately, the Brotherhood of Mutants did not evacuate by having a huge crowd simply walk away. A number of cars and trucks had been parked haphazardly in the open area before the laboratory compound, and everyone left in those vehicles.

If there were not enough, someone simply pried open the locks of nearby vehicles and requisitioned them on the spot.

Since it was still the middle of the night and everyone was hurriedly fleeing this troubled place, Henry had not had a chance to grab a few pieces of bread from the commissary or cafeteria. He climbed into the back of a truck, needing someone behind him to give his butt a push before he could get up.

Everyone got into the vehicles. In the truck bed with Henry were not only comrades who had also been brought to the laboratory, but several members of the Brotherhood of Mutants as well.

These people were not like the famous, instantly recognizable figures led by Magneto, though. Henry did not care who they were and simply asked, "Brother, where are we going?"

"The coast. You didn't think we could take a plane and swagger out of here, did you?"

"The coast? So we're still in the Middle East?"

"Yes, you never left the Middle
