A Car Full of Abnormal People

Henry had only caught the gist of the earlier phone conversation. After all, Cathy had called to beg for help, not to explain everything clearly. Now, during the drive, Henry finally had time to ask properly. He questioned them in detail about the four girls' experiences, comparing them against the movie plot he remembered.

The most obvious change was that Poison Spider, Ezekiel Sims, was no longer acting alone. He had a hit squad willing to kill working with him.

Henry could not guess where those killers had come from. His first thought was whether they might be assassins from the Continental Hotel.

But without more evidence, he could not make wild guesses. Besides, this was a part that had not existed in the movie, so he could not rely on his memories to gain any foreknowledge. Henry also noticed that the way the four girls had gathered was different. They had not inexplicably arrived at Grand Central Terminal at the same time and met on the same train, in the same carriage. Instead, Cathy and Weber had picked them up one by one while running.

However, in that fateful train carriage, they had seen one of the people hunting them for a second time—and at close range. He was an older French man with a beard, around forty or fifty.

Marty Franklin added, "He should be pretty well-off, since he dressed nicely. Much better than you, a rich man with a house in the Tribeca District."

Having been mocked by the girl again, Henry could not find a way to retort.

But what Henry focused on was what had happened in the carriage. "You mean that bastard killed an adult Black woman in the carriage, and she looked a lot like Miss Franklin?"

The Black girl said animatedly, "Yeah.
