The Exposed Secret Base

Quicksilver clearly lacked the necessary electronic clearance and should not have been able to enter the secret base, yet there he stood in plain sight. Before anyone could react, he vanished again in a blur. "Oh~ oh, my God. What kind of incredible treasure is this? Is this really a sight that a mere mortal like me is allowed to behold?"

Everyone instinctively looked toward the mech area, the most important section of the secret base. Yet there was not a single person there.

Henry was the first to spot where Quicksilver had appeared. The guy was standing in front of a cabinet beside the television projection screen.

The cabinet displayed every home video game console from Atari onward, along with a vast collection of corresponding game cartridges. Gaming magazines and strategy guides were naturally indispensable as well, though there were fewer of the latter.

Though it did not contain every game cartridge and every magazine ever published, the sheer visual impact of an entire cabinet crammed full of gaming products was still astonishing.

Quicksilver had especially spotted a rare item. "Could this be the legendary Super Mario Bros. 2?" It was a 3.5-inch game disk made for the Nintendo Disk System.

For an older otaku and hedonist like him, the appeal of that gaming cabinet was practically infinite. Just look at him—his eyes had gone wide, and he could not tear them away for even a moment.

Just as everyone was about to react, Quicksilver vanished from in front of the gaming cabinet again. This time, he appeared beside Henry and threw an arm around his shoulders. "Hey, my dear friend, the stuff in that cabinet isn't just for show, right? It can be played? It can, right?"
