Intercepting S.H.I.E.L.D.

Back at the secret base, Black Super changed out of his black Kevlar suit. Henry, with his big bald head, did not even show the slightest sign of stubble on his beard or eyebrows. It was reasonable to suspect that the Omega Beams had erased the very causality of their existence...

In any case, everyone had long since gotten used to it, and no one teased Henry about it anymore. Under Alexei's influence, they all fixed their eyes on the surveillance screens.

The sociable Quicksilver asked as soon as he came in, "Yo, Alexei, did you find the person you were looking for?"

"No. I only saw a few familiar S.H.I.E.L.D. faces, along with some people who should be their newcomers. But I didn't see anyone who looked like that defected Black Widow. I did see quite a few female agents, though, and marked them all."

At first, it had been Henry getting knocked down by the Artificial Sun that made this group of idlers take things seriously.

Logically, now that Henry had woken up and had no intention of digging deeper into the matter, everyone's enthusiasm should have faded. But the former Red Guardian remained invested because he had spotted S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel.

One of his reasons for coming to North America had naturally been to find that "defected Black Widow." Now that he had found a lead, how could he not pursue it? The others were happy to help him. The main reason was that they had nothing else to do and were bored.

Henry also walked over to the surveillance screens. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "Do you think S.H.I.E.L.D. showing up was just a coincidence, or are they here for Doctor Octopus? Or Spider-Man?"
