Dozens of Ground-type Pokémon were scattered across the newly formed island. They came in all shapes and sizes, some enormous and some small and nimble, but all stood ready.
Under the command Slowking sent through Telepathy, they gathered their strength in perfect unison, raised their feet, and unleashed Earthquake at the volcano in the middle of the island, which still radiated scorching heat and belched thick smoke.
In an instant, the entire island shook violently. Cracks rapidly spread across the ground, power surging beneath every Pokémon's feet as they released the force of Earthquake in their own unique ways.
"Rumble—"
Stimulated by the powerful tremors, the crater erupted again, just as expected. This eruption was even more violent than before, with blazing lava spewing from the volcano amid rolling heat waves and deafening roars.
Some sections of ground that had already been unstable and riddled with gaps could not withstand the pressure of the fierce Earthquake. They collapsed one after another into the sea, leaving pits of varying sizes across the island's surface.
However, the erupting lava happened to fill those gaps. The molten rock flowed into the hollows and repaired the island itself. As the Pokémon continued using Earthquake, the newly born island steadily became more stable with every tremor.
The loose gaps beneath the island were gradually filled by lava and rocks and soil compressed together. The stones squeezed tightly against one another, becoming increasingly solid.
As the scorching lava continued flowing and reached the Pokémon again, Yu Hai immediately gave Slowking a look and shouted, "Slowking, tell everyone they can recall their Ground-type Pokémon."
Once the lava had filled the gaps on the island, it would have nowhere else to flow except outward, expanding the island further. There was no need to keep enlarging it.
