Poliwag took care of lunch today. Though it was only some kelp, Yu Hai ate some, Magikarp ate some, and Poliwag ate some too.
After lunch, Poliwag even caught a Caterpie and brought it back, leaving Yu Hai torn between laughter and tears.
Even with Caterpie, they did not dare cook it. If Kingler robbed them again, they would have no choice but to flee in disgrace.
"All right, Poliwag, come back and rest for a while. You don't need to work so hard," Yu Hai said, beckoning Poliwag over and making it stop to rest.
Ever since he had told Poliwag to gather kelp, it had not stopped once. There was no need for it to push itself so hard.
"Yoyo!" Poliwag came before Yu Hai and spat out some water. Its meaning was already obvious—it wanted to train. It had to train.
"No, no, no, Poliwag. I have something more important for you to do. Go check whether Caterpie's fever has gone down and whether it's awake in the Treehouse..."
"Yo!" Upon hearing Yu Hai's instructions, Poliwag nodded and headed for the Treehouse.
Poliwag soon came racing back to tell Yu Hai that Caterpie was awake. "Yoyo, yoyo..."
Yu Hai turned to look. Caterpie had already left the Treehouse and crawled outside, slowly making its way toward him.
"Woo, woo." Caterpie slowly crawled into Yu Hai's arms and lay down. Its fever had only just subsided, and its body had not recovered yet. Its growl was still weak.
"Caterpie, where did you go these past two days?" Yu Hai asked the Caterpie in his arms.
"Woo, woo." Caterpie chirped to itself, thinking Yu Hai understood, but Yu Hai had not understood at all.
But what had happened was no longer important. It was back, and that was enough.
